Pours dark brown with a little tan head that thins down then leaves a small film of foam until the glass is gone.
Smells amazing. One of the only times I'd rate something 5.0, this stuff packs a huge punch of roasted toffee, chocolate, malt, and overall roasty goodness. It's like biting into a s'more.
Taste follows suit, all malt and all roasty goodness. No hops to be found, but hey, I don't even care. This is delicious.
Mouthfeel is good. Carbonation is on the lower side, allowing the pallet to not be muddled by CO2. The sweet malt flavor lingers after it goes down, giving you a flavor reminding you that you want to take another sip.
Overall, without sounding like an Evolution Craft Brewing Company commercial, I'll tell you to just get one and try it yourself. It's one thing to follow the guidelines for a style. Beers that taste like exactly what you expect are in my opinion, mediocre. These guys take a well established baseline, the porter, and packs more roasted flavor than you expect, which is something to be commended.

I am still not 100% sure on how to rate porters, especially with the newer black IPA style. Before getting into the review, in my mind, this tends towards a black IPA.
A: it was a darker bar I tried this in, but pretty black with decent foamy head on the sides, returning in force with a swirl. Slight lack of lacing.
S: sorry for lack of detail here, but... black IPA
T: lack of malt depth, but not so much so to be out of balance with the hops. A roasty, unsweet, coffee-bitter type beer that doesn't offend.
M: just a little light, I think. Carbonation is good, though.
O: I think I produced a comparable beer in feel, maybe close in taste. Granted, I was shooting for a stout.
