Bottle into 16 oz stein. Pours a deep mahogany color, very dark but not black. Thick tan head, which quickly reduces to almost nothing.

A very malty beverage - but then it's brewed with seven different malts, so that makes sense. There are hints of roasted coffee and maybe chocolate, but the maltiness is so dominant that it kind of hides everything else. I thought it tasted a little thin for a porter, but then the carbonation could have had something to do with that. Sweetish finish, with no discernable hops presence.

All in all, a very respectable porter. Not in my top ten, but certainly worth a try.

12 oz bottle in a stout glass....at home
A - extremely dark brown; tan head, which dissipates to a ring, and ultimately disappears
S - not as much as I thought, some coffee, a little malt
T - again, not as much as I was hoping; very light malt, very light coffee, a unique dry bitter
F - a little too fizzy for a porter, otherwise not bad
O - had high expectations, maybe too high, so I guess since it wasn't outstanding, I was let down

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a completely opaque, pitch-black color with a quarter of a finger of caramel-colored head that quickly dissolved into a thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed few wispy clouds that gathered into the center of the top of the beer.

Aroma: Very roasty and malty. Strong Notes of freshly baked dark bread. Slight notes of coffee, chocolate and molasses, but not much. Not much in the way of hops, either.

Taste: Very malty, which makes sense as this beer is made with 7 types of malts. However I don’t get much smoky/roasty flavors in this porter as I expect. There are tons of malt however. The beer finishes with some great caramel-like sweetness. Finally, there is no hops bitterness to speak of, which I overall prefer.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied to slightly chewy and with some good carbonation to tickle the taste buds. With an ABV of 5.8%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is quite a good, solid porter. Not as smoky/roasty as other porters I’ve had, but it is a great malt bomb. I’d certainly get it again.

Not bad as far as my palette goes with Porters. Smooth, chcolatey, warm, beautiful beer. I'd like to try it in the proper glass next time to properly assess the appearance, overall a nice beer

This beer does everything right, and though it's not Edmund Fitzgerald, it is a great porter.

Chocolaty and very smooth. Better than any porter I've drank since I can remember.

A: The beer is black when viewed from afar; upon closer inspection there are traces of brownish red in color when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a sort beige head that nearly completely faded away, leaving only a few patches of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light aromas of sweet malts are present in the nose—these somewhat resemble molasses.
T: Like the smell, and he taste is a little sweet and has flavors of dark malts, cola, and molasses.
M: It feels light-bodied (but not watery) on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This porter is easy to drink, but nothing really stands out in the taste as being very interesting.
