Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle. Best by May 2013 notched onto the side of the label. Picked up by a friend at Stateline on the MD/DE border

A: Dark brown and murky. Dark khaki head, departs pretty quickly, leaving a minor film, slight collar and equally minor lace.

S: Some smoke, some milk chocolate/coffee and dark malts.

T: Milk chocolate, light coffee and again dark malts, enough of a hop presence to keep the sweetness from taking over.

M: Pleasant enough on the tongue and coating the mouth. The body is a bit more then medium and the carbonation is fine for the style.

O: Chocolate and coffee infused porter, not overly sweet. Decent porter, but doubt I'd go for more then one of these.

Evolution Lucky 7 Porter isn't so great. It's not unpleasant but is a bit watery and flavourless

A: Black colour and a huge 3 cm head that lasts really well. 4.5

S: I smell yeast, but the maltiness is not that evident here. 3

T: Malty with some acidic qualities and a little bit of sweetness. The maltiness is subdued and a little disappointing. 3

M: A bit thin. 3.5

O: 3.5

12oz bottle thanks to mdaschaf. Poured into Founders snifter. Best by Oct. 2012.

A- Pours a mostly opaque almost black dark brown with a very thin mocha brown head that quickly recedes to pretty much no head. Decent carbonation. Lacing recedes fairly fast.

S- Espresso, malts, bitter dark chocolate, hint of smokiness. About average aroma strength.

T- Smoked malts, a little bit of espresso, chocolate, finishes fairly bitter for a porter. A lot smokier then I was expecting. As it warms up there are some light dark fruit flavors that come out and a little bit more espresso on the aftertaste.

M- A little bit light for a porter, the bitterness tingles the tongue, decent carbonation.

O- This was a decent porter that was a little bit different then I was expecting. There was a lot more smokiness then I was expecting that overpowered the chocolate in the taste. There was also more bitterness on the finish then I typically expect from a porter. Overall it wasn't bad to drink, but not exactly what I look for in porters.

The beer pours pitch black with a huge tan head. In the nose it's vanilla beans and toasty malts. It tastes very toasty and dark. The aftertaste is especially tasty. The mouthfeel is lacking I think, sort of watery on the aftertaste. Overall, pretty good and enjoyable.

This is a solid beer. However, there really aren't any outstanding characteristics. It is an easy drinking porter but it's a little watered down. I like my porters with more body and a fuller head. Great starter porter. And It does have a decent nose.
