Big roasty coffee on the nose and palate, dark black in color, and fizzy head that dissipates quickly. A little bit thin on the mouthfeel. Good overall.

Pretty sure I've had this before - better late than never on the review? Brace of draught pints at The Brass Tap here in Baltimore: Dark reddish-brown body w/moderate tan head eventually settles into a ring w/some lacing. Coffee (good dark roast) on the nose. Coffee then chocolate w/some malt on the tongue. As others noted feels more like a porter than a stout. This is a lot of roasted goodness for the price - especially when featured at happy hour.

Mouthfeel sets this one apart. It's coffee and carbonation on the intake and chocolate on the aftertaste. The carbonation holds up very well and holds its character well over an extended sipping session.

A nice stout with a decent coffee addition. The head was very big and more ran than white (I actually got to much head, probably due to a bad pour). The taste & smell were nice for a sour with a little more coffee flavor

Solid black color with an above average body. Has a nice thick feel to it with mild carbonation.
Aroma is malt, roasted malt, freshly made low acid black coffee, some espresso
Taste is similar to aroma, not at all sweet but just a bit bitter from what I am guessing is the coffee. It isn't complex, just straightforward roasted malts , coffee, and a little bit of espresso bean.
It's a really enjoyable beer that works on it's own or after a meal instead of coffee which is how i enjoyed it.

This is pretty readily available to me living northeast of Baltimore. Couldn't remember if I liked it so i took the chance at $8.99 for a 4 pack.
L: poured from a 12 oz bottle into the suggested (on the box) nonik pint, it pours a dark black with a dark tan solid 2.5 finger head, perfectly reaching the top of the glass. Decent retention and halfway through as i write this, it leaves a sexy lacing all the way up to the mouth of the glass.
S: the smell is very bold and somewhat upfront: COFFEE! and then seamlessly blended into roasted malt. Definitely heavy on the coffee, but a noticeable malt prescense.
T: follows the nose almost exactly. Predominantly coffee up front (and tasty coffee at that!) followed by a great malt character. Like the smell, it is blended very smoothly and in a way that the coffee and malts compliment each other very well.
F: the only beef I have with this beer is in this department. Petty perhaps, but it has more of a porter feel. Not "watered down", but not thick and full and creamy as youd expect from a stout.
O: overall a very fine showing of Maryland beers and dark beer in general. Although I personally think it should be labeled a porter, a fantastic beer nonetheless and well worth a try.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of strong black coffee. Taste is of dark roasted malts, black coffee is plentiful. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is a good beer, but you better be a coffee lover to enjoy this one.

Wotta bummer! My Happy New Evil/Evo/Evil Beer Sunday (Week 677) is now in full swing, but I only have one (1) "New" beer from Evolution Craft Brewing Company to add to this madness. 8=( Dang!
From the bottle: "Alc. 6.7% by Vol., 17.8 (deg.) P, 40 IBU".
I Pop!ped the cap & began a slow pour into my latest glass, a converted Mason jar. Once the bottle was empty, I performed a vigorous in-glass swirl that raised two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with modest retention. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), revealing cola highlights only at the edges. Nose smelled of my morning cuppa joe! Mouthfeel was medium, at best. I like my coffee the same way as my women & my magic - hot & black! The roastiness of this beer rivals Navy Joe Coffee's JP-5 blend, named for aviation jet fuel. Ha! We brewed a pot laced with black powder on time & it sent everybody into overdrive. We field day-ed (cleaned) MT52 from the deck to the overhead & fore to aft until it gleamed & then looked for something else to do. I still get the jitters thinking of that one. This was not quite that intense, but you had best really like the taste of hot, black, unadulterated coffee if you are planning on drinking this one. It made me think of the original (now banned) iterations of Four Loko - mega caffeine plus mucho alcohol to get your heart really Pop!ping. Finish was dry, roasty & just what I needed on this day.
