Black as night, with a half finger of head that vanished. Smells like a coffee forward, chocolate and dark malt stout. Coffee taste first followed by a dark roasty malt flavor. A little bit of dark chocolate malts, but not too much. Just enough carbonation to make it very drinkable. Silky smooth and a solid offering from Evo.

I would still recommend the Lot 6 DIPA from Evo before this, but still a great drink if you can find it.

12oz bottle poured into standard pint glass. Notching on the side was between Feb & March 2013. I'll asume bottled on dates. If so, 9-10 months along.

Initially poured a lovely inky black, with a 1 finger tan head. However, this head fizzled away very quickly to none at all. Upon agitating the beer a few times, the head returned to between 1 & 2 fingers, but just as quickly evaporated. Needless to say, no lacing whatsoever. So, is this flat after 9/10 months? Looked like a black iced coffee.

Smell was very nice, if you like coffee, which I do. A faint whiff of choclate as well. Aroma never faded away.

Taste was really quite good, strong and delicious coffee, couldn't pick up any carbonation, even with agitating a couple of times and getting the head back.

Mouth was a little on the thin side. Coffee coated the tongue.

Overall, a rather odd experience. A flat beer, which still tasted pretty good. Have another in the fridge, and if it's significvantly different, I'll re-review.

The beer pours a foamy brown head that dissipates quickly but leaves a bit of film on the top of the beer. The beer itself is a dark, nicotine brown that borders on chocolate black. The beer has a very roasted and coffee smell. The roast note pretty much dominates everything else and not much else is noticeable. One other note that slightly balances out the roast is a sweet dark chocolate note that is hidden but occasionally makes an appearance. The beer taste is roasted and cocoa. The dark chocolate note is still there but less so than in the smell. Overall, the taste is a bit more sweeter and creamier than the smell. The hop bitterness exists but is very very little and almost unnoticeable except in the aftertaste.

The mouthfeel is heavy bodied and smooth with a lot of biting carbonation. Overall, a very good and very delicious coffee stout

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a nice large dark brown foamy head with light retention and almost no retention. Aroma of floral coffee notes is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by floral coffee notes with some light black chocolate notes. Body is a bit thin for style and lack some creaminess. Coffee notes are really great but body is a bit too thin for the style.
