The ale is slightly hazy light amber, an off-white head that leaves good lacing and some curtains.

Very fruity smell, tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit, orange and lime.

Starting with sweet syrup bread, mango and pine-apple juice, orange marmalade.

Medium low carbonation, watery but a slightly sticky, a medium body, a dry finish.

In all a good and very fruity IPA.

On tap in apint glass.

A-dark golden copper color with a 1+ finger head, loads of clingy lacing.

S-pine and citrus just like an IPA should.

T-a citrus hop bite from start to finish with a gentle roasty malt backround. Very tasty.

M-Cool and full. good body and carbonation. No burn.

O-A rock solid IPA that looks, tastes, and smells great.

I was lucky to find and choose this beer on a recent trip to the Ocean City, MD area. I drank it three seperate times at three different pubs and it was blue ribbon each time.

I should have reviewed this beer a long time ago. A real gem of an IPA in my local area and a go-to beer for me in the warmer months. It has a cloudy light-amber appearance and smells of grapefruit/orange citrus. It is very smooth up front and has the bitter (but not overdone like many of the most popular hop-bombs) hop bite on the back end. The alcohol is a perfect blend and sits on the tongue and throat for a few seconds each sip. I could drink this one all afternoon...slowly, of course.

Poured into my Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald standard pint...

A: A slightly cloudy, dark copper color. About a finger of crisp, eggshell white head that quickly settles down to a half finger. Good head retention on this one. Lacing is very good down the sides of the glass.

S: Very tropical. All kinds of orange rind, grapefruit juice, and pineapple. Pine needles and grassy notes poke their head in throughout the taste. Bubblegum and touches of roasted biscuit. Delicious.

T: Outstanding. I get some mild, creamy orange flavors on the front until the mid explodes with hop wonder: pineapple, grapefruit, pine cone. I also get a fairly assertive malt bill on this, and I'm liking it. Biscuit and roasted grain. Excellent.

M: Standout part of the beer for me. Such a wonderfully easy drinking IPA that still packs a nice hop punch. Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. But it drinks like a pils, crisp and refreshing. Extremely easy on the palate, this IPA takes you for a ride but knows when to let go...this is one you could have at any point during a session and it wouldn't negatively impact the beers that come after. Can't say that about a lot of IPAs.

O: Evolution's Lot No. 3 is simply one of the best IPAs in the land. It stands toe to toe with some of my very favorites, including White Rajah, Zombie Dust, Headhunter, and Lunch IPA. And considering its wide availability in the Mid-Atlantic, I'm not sure anything else compares at this level of quality. Evolution found lightning in a bottle with this one. Bravo, Tommy!

12oz bottle (best before May 2012) into a tulip - thanks again IrishColonial!

Pours a slightly hazy copper color w/ a 1-finger off-white head, good sticky lacing.

Aroma is tropical & piney, floral & hoppy. A little subdued, but still smells great. Some pineapple in there too.

Taste is malty & bready up front, sticky sweet. Sharp bitter hops cut through the strong malt backbone on the finish.

Mouthfeel is round, full-bodied, w/ a lingering hoppy finish.

Overall an enjoyable, drinkable IPA. A little on the heavy/malty side, but still tasty and satisfying.

Ba Review #133
Served On: 03/02/2012
Glassware: Tumbler Pint
Labeled ABV: 6.8%
Date/ Code: April 2012

Grabbed a sixer of this from Friskcos in Frederick duing my lunch break.

Look: The beer poured a very transparent honey copper color with a thin whit film for the head. Carbonation bubbles were minimal. A few particles landed on the bottom of the glass indicating some sediment.

Smell: Sweet tropical notes of mango and kiwi. Also some sweetened grapefruit. There was also a rustic vanilla quality in the aroma – reminiscent of Stoundt’s Double IPA or Flying Dog’s Double Dog.

Taste: Upfront was the sweet fruity hops that seemed mellow at first. Then a well controlled bitterness cam over the palate that completely wiped the sweetness away. The finish was rather juicy while the bitterness remained. Some bready malts made an appearance for the aftertaste and complimented a lingering bitterness.

This an amazing IPA from Evolution. It had a high level of complexity while still maintaining a nice balance. This is a topnotch IPA in my book.

I poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a nonic pint, orange pour with a solid white head, moderate lacing. The aroma is great, tons of pine and citrus. Lotes of pine, sweet grapefruit, pineapple notes, lingering finish of bitter pine. It has a resinous mouth feel, good carbonation. Great IPA, well balanced, taste like it should be a bigger beer.
