Poured from growler into snifter. Very, very dark. Thick looking, mocha colored, frothy head, about an inch thick, dissipated quickly. Very little lacing at all. Some chunkiness poured through a couple times. After inspecting a piece further with my eyes, fingers and ears, it is almost definitely styrofoam. An odd ingredient to say the least. Maybe it was added for the squeaky sound, but there is no rating of beer sounds on BA, so, moving on...
Immediate smell of dark chocolate. Cocoa nibs. Really not much alcohol smell at first, although it does come through a little more as it sits. Overall, a very sweet smell.
A very chocolaty, roasted barley taste. After a couple sips, the taste of alcohol becomes more and more prevalent, although it balances quite well with the overall sweetness. And this is a sweet beer.
First sip was way thicker than I expected. It was almost like molasses going over my tongue. A very slight dark chocolate-like bitterness increases with time. In short, full bodied.
Overall it was a pretty darn good beer. Nothing special, no real complexity, just straight forward good flavor. Some vanilla bean or something here for a little more depth of flavor could have really put this beer over the edge. And due to the quickly dissipating head, it lost a lot of flavor and aroma quickly. This growler was about 18hrs old, and this is the first time it was opened. But like I mentioned, there was quite a head on the initial pour, so the carbonation was there, but like with other Evo beers, the stability of it held the rest of the beer back. I would definitely buy some again in the future, but of course I have to finish this half gallon first.

Had on draft at the EVo tasting room:
Appearance: dark brown black with a mocha head
Smell: cherry, vanilla, coffee,
Taste: more of the same, cherry, vanilla, and coffee
Mouthfeel: low to medium carbonation, nice smooth finish,
Overall: easy drinkable stout with some flavors that work good for valentines day. And it happens to brewed just for such an occasion.
Cheers,
TheCpJ
