Poured into tulip; this is my first beer of this style, and my first sour in general.
Pours earthy brown, slight reddish hues. Translucent and hazy, with no head at all, hard as I tried. Smells of sharp alcohol and tannin mixed with vanilla and oak, as well as some sweet/tart cherry. Overall, sort of like a sweet worcestershire sauce in a way. Taste is sweet and fruity at first, but moving quickly into sour cherry and a bite of tannins. The oak smooths everything over, and vanilla tinges the whole flavor. Reminds me of a dry red wine. The only thing missing from this one (even to my untrained-in-sours palate) is more carbonation; this poured, and tasted, utterly flat. Some lively carbonation, even a small amount, would really make this brew awesome.
Overall, this style is something entirely new to me, but after my first one, I'm hungry for more. It's rauchbiers all over again...

It looks flat and is a dingy reddish brown color. There's almost no head but the little head that exists is composed of huge thin bubbles, like dish soap.

It has a really nice nose on it. Juicy sweet cherries, vanilla, brown sugar, sweet tea. It smells very sweet with not much tart.

The cherries and vanilla are front and center. Acidic and tannic tart qualities cut the sweet side of it. The finish is an herbal tea-like bitterness.

The mouthfeel is the only knock, in my opinion. It's thin and flat. I don't need much carbonation for this style, but it's almost non-existant.

It's does really well for the style in the aroma and flavor category. With a little more carbonation it could have been much better. The price tag is still a little outrageous, though.

Muddy chestnut brown. Decent hiss when opened but pours very still with no head and no lacing. Apple and somewhat cidery aroma. Brett. Wonderful tart and somewhat sour flavors. Nice balance with the oak. Faint dried cherry flavors. The mouthfeel is really great-very smooth and almsot creamy. I was really expecting something a lot thinner. Very enjoyable and drinkable. Once again my local brewery kicks butt!
