Had on draft at Slaters 50/50 in tulip on 4/2/14

A-Pours a deep, clear copper, with small head. Decent lacing

S-Strong hop aroma, with some breadiness and citrus.

T-Flavor is slightly bitter, full pine hops, with a surprising sweetness and some distinct floral, citrus notes, strong grapefruit. Liked it a lot

M-mouthfeel is well balance and great carbonation

O-Overall another great beer by Ballast Point.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Surly Darkness chalice.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber orange with a lot of bubbles. Big three finger off white head which slowly fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing.

Smell: A juicy and earthy hop forward aroma with good hints of citrus and pine. Upfront citrus hop hints of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, mango, lemon, tangerine, apricot, and melon. Big dank hints of pine resin as well as hints of grassy hops. Background hints of malt with hints of caramel, grains, and yeast. Very hop forward and ripe smelling. A very good aroma.

Taste: Like the nose suggests, a juicy and oily hop driven taste with big notes of citrus and pine. Citrus hops with upfront notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, lemon, pineapple, tangerine, melon, and apricot. Big dank and spicy taste of pine resin. Also some grassy and floral hop notes. Backing malt presence with notes of sweet caramel, grains, cracker, and yeast. A very good and nicely bitter hop forward taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and oily with a drying finish. Alcohol is hidden well.

Overall: Another very good West Coast Imperial IPA. Good mix of juicy and piney hop flavors with a solid malt backing.

Poured from the bomber into a snifter glass.
Pours a medium clear amber with minimal head.
Smell was a bit lacking initially but increased as it warmed up, good hoppiness and alcohol.
Taste was a nice level of bitterness, alcohol forward, but not quite as hoppy citrus as Sculpin.
Mouthfeel was crisp, dry. I enjoyed it.
Overall, a nice double IPA from BP. It's 10% ABV and you can tell. Good bitterness level but could use more dry hopping for increased juiciness.

This pours a golden amber in color with a thin layer of foaming on top. I get a piney aroma to it up front, followed by a touch of orange peel and a puff of caramel. The flavor is intensely piney with some orange peel citrus character and a resiny sweetness. I found it malty and somewhat bready, achieving a nice balance.
