Best before date of 02/15/14. Poured in to tulip.

A - Translucent yellow/orange colour with a thin layer of cream coloured head.

S - Much lighter nose than expected. Citrus, pine and sweet caramel. Inviting but not seemingly a DIPA nose.

T - Makes up for the lack of pungency in the nose. An assertive bitterness hits the tongue right away with pine, grapefruit and orange rind flavours. Despite being very hop forward, the malt bill still contributes and sweet biscuity and somewhat buttery sweetness.

M - Medium body. Sticky and oily. Light to moderate carbonation.

Modest head but it leaves a continual blanket of lace. Clear with amber color.

Smell: Smooth caramel base with a light floral hop touch.

A good malt start. This yields to some alcohol warmth. The swallow features some grapefruit rind tasting hop bitterness. Long bitter aftertaste, but this is not extreme. Creamy body with a subdued carbonation level. Deceptively easy to drink.

Poured from a 22 oz brown bomber into a clear glass tumbler. Enjoy by 081513 on label. Purchased at Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL).

A: Deep copper with prodigious 2-finger off-white rocky head with good retention and some craggy lacing.

S: Great resiny hops aroma with pine, grapefruit, pineapple, and floral notes backed by a solid light caramel , bready malt contribution. No yeast character to speak of. No big hot alcohols in the aroma either.

T: Good flavor, if a little bit much like the "other guys" that make great DIPAs. By no means am I complaining but there isn't a lot to distinguish this beer from a lot of other really good DIPAs. Big blast of resiny hops followed by lemon, grapefruit, pineapple, honeysuckle, pine and some floral notes. THe maltiness is hefty in stature by smooth and unassuming in flavor with only good malty background flavor and only a light caramel note. Bitterness is medium to medium-high. Smooth and not a problem to finish a bomber on your own. Alcohol presence is there but by no means off-putting and no hot alcohol flavors at all. Very good DIPA all the way around, just not all that distinctive.

M: Solid medium body, medium dry but a little too carbonated for me.

O: Dorado is a really good DIPA, but there are a lot of really good DIPAs readily available out there. I think this offering, while very good, needs a signature vlavor or aroma. Not a gimmick, but something that helps to set it apart from other high-quality DIPAs. Well worth taking a look at for sure.

22oz poured into glass gives a moderate white/tiny bit beige creamy head. Beer is a clear, bright orange with a bit of copper. Has heavy lacing. Smells of juicy citrus hops, floral, and sweet malts.

Taste is dominated by sweet caramel malts and floral hops. Taste starts with floral hops, then caramel and toffee malts, then mango, lemon, and orange hops. Has a malty, floral, slightly boozy finish that is a touch resinous. Not as hop forward as what is ideal for me, but still a great flavor. Has a medium body with low carbonation. A very good beer, not exactly my preference for a DIPA (A little too malty and sweet/floral).
