Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of citrus, grapefruit, piney resins and some sweet caramelly malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has alot of resiny pine followed by grapefruit, light citrus and sweet caramelly malts. Nice bitterness.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

L: Crystal clear amber with a sudsy and pillowy white head. Good globs of lacing.

S: Big resiny citrus notes, as well as a mango/pineapple sweetness and a bisciuty malt backbone. A touch of clean alcohol noticeable as well.

T/M: Big bitterness up front, lingers through and is joined by resiny citrus, fresh cut grass, and slightly tropical hop notes. There are some noticeable alcoholic citrus esters as well as alcohol heat. Substantial malt balance and a moderate mouthfeel. It is somewhat sweet towards the middle, but the bitterness and sulfate bite cut that and lead to a dry finish with a lingering bitterness.

Overall: A big ole' San Diego Pale Ale. Lived up to my expectations, perhaps more balanced than I anticipated. However, the hop character is still 'in your face' and the finish is bone dry. I recommend this as an after dinner treat, it will cut through anything.

Well I use to do the full review thing but it just got a bit to old so here is what I have to say about this Ballast Point Beer.
I currently live in Boston MA. which is drinking city, and went back to San Diego to work on my friends airplane. After I was done I found the local liquor store to buy a beer and since Ballst point is a west coast and San Diego thing and hard to get on the east caost I got this with my take out dinner and it was the best beer I have ever had, and trust me I have been all over the world, this beer is the best I have had soo far, so try it and judge for yourself.

Kinda thin for a DIPA. Blondish orange and lighter in color than other examples from this category. Hoppy, citrusy, but no heft. Not too bitter, a little sweet. Left me wondering if the server had poured the wrong selection. After being reassured, I tried to evaluate it fairly, but I couldn't help but feel a little cheated.

220z bottle poured into ale glass. Enjoy by 01/31/14

A-Nicely filtered orange/amber colored body. Minuscule white head that settles and leaves a ring around the perimeter of the glass.

S-Nice pronounced hop bouquet. Citrus and hop resins dominate the nose. Melon, grapefruit, apple peal and star fruit.

T-Malts are apparent in the taste but the hops take center stage again. Balanced throughout the palate and finishing bitter. Tangelo and melon are the big citrus notes I am picking up with the caramel malts shining through in the background.

M-Very nice carbonation with a medium to thin body and sweet finish. Like my ipa's to be slightly more fuller in body.

O-Very good imperial Ipa. Very enjoyable and delivers. Highly drinkable and the 9.6% abv is masked brilliantly. For me personally it does not bring anything new to the imperial ipa genre of beer but is done very well.
