On tap at Linda Vista – 8oz pour served in a Tulip style glass

A: Hazy caramel orange body in the glass. Thick buildup of foamy bone white suds rests on top for a few prolonged moments. Nice intermittent tracks of lace and sticky dots cling to the glass after every sip.

S: Very floral aromatics with a spray of citrus fruits and some mild dank herbs. Smells juicy with hops and some sugary pale malts. Getting a nice tropical element to the nose like a mango pineapple combo. Has a very enjoyable citrus spiced tropic thing going on.

T: Flavors come together quite nicely with juicy mangoes, citrus zest, and florals. Not particularly lemony but the beer is fruity and lightly exotic with just enough sugary malt sweetness binding everything together. Has a very nice controlled bitterness across the palate and good drying lift with a resinous finish. I pick up on some of the alcohol in the background but this is otherwise nicely balanced.

M: Moderate to lighter fill with a nice creamy consistency from the carbonation. Lightly resinous pucker from a moderate amount of bitterness and a good drying affect towards the finish. Lingers on the palate in the end.

D: A very nice and new hoppy offering from Ballast Point. It is light and refreshing with great balance between the fruity tropical hops, bitters, and malt sugar levels. Would definitely have more of this one.

Not an IPA fan. Bitter, and dull

Brewed with brown rice and Meyer lemon peel. On tap at the India Street tasting room.

Quite attractive dark yellow color with plenty of foam. The mix of hops have a lovely fragrance. I didn't get much lemon scent, though the flavor has a hint of lemon rind. Bitter hops and bitter lemon pith for the finish. Sharp and acidic mouthfeel.

I think this could be a good brew if they just used the rather sweet Meyer lemon juice, which has a wonderful aromatic flavor. They seem to have brewed with the rind, like you would with other citrus, but in my experience the Meyer lemon peel adds an excessive bitterness to food.

From Growler.

A - Clear gold, some small head, leaves fast. Not much cling.

S -Hoppy, malty, standard IPA attributes.

T - The brown rice addition gives it a slightly different taste, more 'meaty' I guess I would have to put it. Tasty.

M - Medium to light, good carb and balance.

D - Good one to try.

Finally! Outside the Easy Jack, a session IPA with actual flavor.
