Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a honey ambe color, with a tall 2" sticky white head leaving plenty of lacing as it reduces.
Aroma is quite pleasant, with grapefruit, tangerine, hints of pine, and mild malt. Simply put, a nice, clean smelling IPA.
The taste is a bit more complex than the aroma. Has a thicker, maltier start than you'd expect from the taste, with plenty of sweet fruit -- pineapple, apricot, and hints of peach -- with a bold, spicy hop finish.
Has a medium to medium-full mouthfeel; again, the malt is quite evident in how this feels. There's more than enough IBU's in this to get both the tongue and the gums tingling.
A pleasant, full flavored and full-bodied IPA. In fact, there's enough to this that I'm surprised it is not an Imperial IPA. At 7% abv, it is close, but its the dominating feel and bitterness, and not a booziness, that gives me the impression this is a DIPA and not an IPA. Definitely worth a try!

A: Pours a slightly hazy light copper with a short white head. Good retention.
S: Floral grapefruit hop aroma stands out with a wee bit of grape. Smells like a wheat field after a spring rain. Light malt aroma and some mild citrus.
T: Very bright Grapefruit malt flavor. Some mild lemon peel and semi-sweet light caramel malt. This has a big malt flavor and a slow but steady hop bitterness. Bitterness arrives late and is matched with a citrusy dry finish. Bitterness is not harsh at all, very mild and smooth. Aftertaste is very nice but doesn't last too long.
M: Medium body, medium carbonation. Velvety texture. Smooth
O: This beer surprised me. At a reported 70IBU's I was expecting a bit of a bitter finish. This beer is SMOOTH. The bitterness is balanced extraordinarily well with the hop aroma and comes on slowly in the finish. It has a nice Malty backbone and a pleasant and very evident citrusy, lemon quality that survives through the finish. This is a well crafted IPA. The hops are the star but the malt isn't pushed aside. It has it's own little identity. Truly one of my favorite IPA's... ever.
