12 oz bottle poured into tulip glass.

A - Semi-hazy bronze/copper with a finger of off white head. Good amount of lacing.

S - The smell is outstanding. Juicy fruity hops, mainly grapefruit, with some pineapple and orange. Very tropical.

T - Wow, an explosion of tropical citrus hops. Huge grapefruit flavor but not too bitter, sweet pineapple and orange, and resinous hops. Also a hint of mango and papaya. No malt profile to speak of. This beer isn't balanced, but it doesn't need to be when the hop flavor is so intense and juicy.

M - Medium bodied, and high carbonation. The mouthfeel is a bit oily and resinous. A juicy bitterness lingers, mainly grapefruit and pineapple.

O - My first Sculpin and I'm already hooked. Glad I bought a sixer. It's amazingly juicy and complex, with all sorts of tropical fruits coming out in the flavor.

Bought at the local Specs. Poured in to an Allagash goblet.

A - Super hazy orange with a couple fingers of white head. A little bit of lacing.

S - Citrusy hops, tons of grapefruit, and pineapple.

T/M - There's a bit of citrus in the taste, but to me, it's dominated more by the oily hops. Leaves a bit of a metallic aftertaste.

O - This is a good beer and it's super drinkable.

Other notes: I resisted Ballast Point for a long time because it was hard to take them serious with such hideous branding. A few months ago, the local liquor store had some Sculpin on clearance, so I decided to jump. It was out of date, but still tasted pretty good. I'm so glad they finally got a decent design team because this stuff is too good to have such an ugly label.
