This is my favorite beer to date! Today is my birthday and on Friday I'm taking off work to hit up the brewery down in San Diego. This has to be the IPA that helped San Diego reach it's claim to fame. Perfect taste and 7% to boot! The perfect beer for a beer tasting, kicking with some friends, or even for a raging weekend night.

This really is a great beer but it is really overpriced near me. This is strange because I live like an hour away from their brewery so I don't know if it is my local store price gauging or if Ballast Point is responsible. The store near me charges $18 for a bomber and there is no way that it is worth that much unless you have never tried it.

It is overall a delight though. Great everything, full and frothy bitter mouthfeel, pours great, the tastes and smells are exceptional. If the price was right I would buy this beer everyday

Cheers!

A - After a very frothy pour, Sculpin settles in the pint glass with a light amber coloring. The frothy head doesn't dissipate easy, and gives the beer a very stately appearance. Real nice. After some sips, the glass reveals some nice lacing.

S - There's a sense of mango on the first whiff, and though hoppy, nothing over the top here. Nice balance of fruitiness with hops.

T - Like the smell, the hops isn't overwhelming for an IPA but instead balances with a fruit flavor and the result is delicious. Light, almost airy, but as advertised "still packs a bit of a sting... just like a sculpin"

M - Very nice, light carbonation that doesn't linger. With all IPAs, the hops has a tendency to sit in the back of your mouth as an aftertaste, and this is no different. Solid beer, through and through.

O - With every sip, Sculpin inches it's way up the favorites list. This is the only beer I've had from Ballast Point so far, and I ould be interested to see what else they. Have. I would recommend this without question, especially to those new to IPAs - it would be a great introduction.
