I tried a sample of this on a whim and quickly decided to take a growler home to indulge in.

The head and color expose some of the secrets of this ale. The one inch head is off white with some larger bubbles scattered throughout followed by the butterscotch color of the brew.

The smell is complex. Each pass was different. The first being floral. The second being piney and citrusy with a slight alcohol nose.

At first this ale tastes like it may be malty and competetive but the hops quickly kick with pine and grapefruit. It tastes like the malt may have been added late leaving just the hint of sweetness and none of the heavy malt taste. The alcohol is definately present upon swallowing and the hops are noisy and not in a hurry.

The mouth I rated least as it feels a bit heavy and wet much like an East Coast IPA but soon gives way to the joy of a well balanced brew. Carbonation is medium and just about right.

This IPA is on the verge of an Imperial but oh-so-fun to drink. It's complexity, rawness, and yeastiness reminds me of a smoother finishing Pliny the Elder. Not quite as dry as Stone and very well balanced.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass

A - A golden-orange IPA with a 3inch off-white head. nice lacing as I drink this down.

S - Loaded with hop aromas. you can smell it from a few feet away! definitely some citrus and pine hops here. Some breadiness and malt as well.

T - Bold hops up front - citrus, pine. A decent bit of malt flavor at the end followed by a slight but refreshing burn from the booze. Amazing.

M - sticky and quite heavy for a regular india pale ale. very light carbonation but it works really well with the complexity of this beer.

Overall - you aren't going to find too many beers better than this one. well-executed all around. For how heavy it is, it is very drinkable because it is so good!

Appearance- a gold colored brew with a light white head that seems like it could just hang out on top of my beer all night.

Aroma- like sticking your nose in a barrel of hops, a little grapefruit and pine present.

Taste- hop bitterness up front, there is a hint of malt sweetness, but the hops win out in the end. I actually would have preferred just a little more malt backbone to this beer. But only a little more, and honestly it's still fantastic.

Mouthfeel: nice crisp, light mouthfeel. Moderately carbonated.

Overall: great beer. I could drink this one all night.

Grabbed one of the last bombers at Winooski Bevy.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle, enjoy by 02/26/13.

Appearance: A light gold body appears and even with a vigorous pour, nets me barely a 2 finger head. Retention is real nice on the sides.

Smell: Heady for sure. Peaches come strong as does sticky resin and a good dose of grapefruit.

Taste: Peaches first but then overwhelmed by a very assertive grapefruit flavor. Some orange tries to take the edge off as well as a sweet touch in the finale.

Mouthfeel: Bitter from the get-go, malt tries to keep things in check but the long lasting bitterness is stronger.

Overall: An awesome IPA that lives up to its reputation.
