look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

A - Somewhat large bubbling, off white in color. Faint golden orange in color. Some decent lacing

S - Not as impressive as others have noted. I've tried this on multiple occasions now and I just don't get much. Hops is a bit weak and I really have to search for the fruitiness most people gush over.

T - Again, it's a bit milder than expected. Hops isn't where I'd like to see. More hoppy in the finish than the jolt I was hoping for right out of the gate. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I was hoping for more. Tastes more like a good balanced hoppy/slightly malty session beer.

M - A tad dry.

O - First try, I thought it had sat on the shelf for a while. Then I tried it a 2nd and 3rd time from different locations. Nope, it all tastes the same.

Tasted On: 12-07-2012
Freshness: Best by 01-22-2013
Packaging: 22 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Tulip
Purchased: Single from Brawley's Beverage, Charlotte

A: Hazy and orange in color, with a modest white head. Retention is fair, with a nice ring of lace on the glass.

S: Citrus and grapefruit dominate the nose, a tribute to West coast hops. Fruity and fresh

T: Crisp bitterness is tempered by some caramel malt flavors. Also get tropical fruitiness. This beer is hop-forward as it should be, but has a nice balance to it.

M: Highly carbonated, with a body in the medium-to-high range. Finishes dry and with notes of citrus fruit and hop bitterness. I get some alcohol warmth as well

O: I really enjoyed this fresh and clean-tasting IPA.

look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Pours a clear light copper color with a solid one inch cream head that dissipates slowly, leaving leggy lacing.

Aroma is initially dank, with fresh cut grass and pine opening the way for a fruit salad of hops. PIneapple, mango, apricot, tangerine, and grapefruit are all present in full force. There's an underpinning of caramel malt at the base, which serves only to tie together the hop profile.

Sweet bready malt is more present in the flavor initially, ushering in tart flavors of grapefruit and sweeter mango, which turns more pithy at the finish. There's a dank character that surfaces late, accompanied by resin and pine. The finish is earthy and bitter, but not obtrusively so.

Body is moderate, with carbonation slightly higher than moderate, alleviating the hop barrage on the palate. There's a touch of alcohol warmth.

Overall, love the hop flavor profile. The aroma should be bottled and sold as perfume. A great example of the style.

Poured into a seidel at cellar temp.

Gold-colored and very clear body with a half finger of pure white head. Head fades but maintains a fizzy layer on top and lots of lacing. Strong notes of pine, grass, and dirt in the nose, you're smelling your way through a forest. Taste is clean and sharp but fairly one-dimensional. Definitely on the bitter side of single IPAs. Nice level of carbonation with a very, very dry finish.
