A: pour light amber with a nice off white one finger head. Good lacing all around. Head has good retention

S: a little bit of everything, very nice. Some nice pine, citrus and a slight spice. Lots of great hop aromas.

T: mild bitterness upfront followed by some of the citrus and pine hops pulling forward before the malt finally comes through. Dry bitter finish.

M: light feel with moderate carbonation. Dry if finish.

O: complex ipa with a lot of different hop aromas and flavors. Very drinkable.

this ballast point ipa is pretty good. nice color- slightly cloudy. the smell is super hoppy with a touch of citrus. the taste hast that nice ipa bitterness, a good solid bitter. i do wish there was some more citrus in the flavor. that complaint is a stretch- thats all i got, if i have to say something. bottom line- if youre in the mood for an ipa this one will definitely hit your spot .

Not the first time I've had it. Last time I let a bomber sit too long in my fridge and it mellowed out way too much, I was underwhelmed. 12oz in to the trusty tulip.

Appearance: Honey orange. Beautiful for an IPA, almost perfect. Came to a nice head with a fair amount of retention and a small amount of lacing.

Smell: Citrus on top of citrus. Grapefruit, fresh orange flesh, hops. The first thing I thought when I cracked the bottle was "this is gonna be tasty." Little hint of sweet malt backbone to hold it together. Makes my mouth water.

Taste: Citrus rush that quickly fades in to hop bitterness. This is west coast IPA done right, and deserves to be a classic. Prickly carbonated grapefruit with a tiny pinch of sweetness before those hops hit you in the back of the tongue. Awesome. First sip can surprise you with the bitterness but subsequent sips are amazing.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation that fades out to a nice clean finish. Very smooth.

Overall: One of the classics, in my opinion this one and Victory at Sea put Ballast Point on the map. If you love IPAs and DIPAs, this is a must have.
