Color is a cross of gold and blonde with a frothy head. I had read about this beer but this is my first time trying it.

Grapefruit and pine aromas spring forth followed by a clean malt base that compliments them. Smells much stronger than 7%.

The first sip brings forth those same grapefruit and pine hop flavors but after that, is nothing but a blank slate of clean, crisp malt. It differs from a few other offerings I've had and to be quite honest, I like this effort more.

The mouthfeel is clean and crisp as well. It's not muddled or full of alcohol heat like a few other offerings.

THE cleanest, tastiest example I've had of this stuff thus far.

Don't get Raul wrong, he trips over the "hot" stuff. Once he started seeing an abundance of Hoponius Union pictures, he had to have it. And he eventually did. And it was good. But why should Raul trip so hard when he has The Bruery's Humulus Lager and Ballast Point's Fathom IPL at his beckoning?

And yeeep! Fathom has done it like A-Roid on a syringe filled with HGH - straight popped it hard! Thang is crisp, clean (unlike A-Roid) and just straight drinkable.

Can Raul get a "yeah buddy!"?

22oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale golden yellow with great clarity and bubbles seen coming up through the glass. Nice lacing as the beer was drank too.

Smell: Bready pilsner malts, sweet pale malts, tangerine, grapefruit, and citrus.

Taste: Citrus and bitterness is s little more noticeable. Chewy and sweet malts with lingering bitterness in the end.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, chewy, refreshing, medium to full bodied, medium carbonation, and some lingering bitterness.

Overall: A nice and hoppy lager with some bitterness in the end. IPL are becoming more popular with myself more and more.

No dating available. Served in a pilsner glass.

A: Pours a slightly hazy, slightly amber hue. Carbonation is moderate. Two and some change fingers of white head. Large bubbles. Moderate retention.

S: Has that clean lager snap to it. Otherwise, it carries a lot of tropical notes. Tangerine, mango, pineapple. Underneath that is some mint/herbal characteristics.

T: Mid palate of big tropical notes. Middle is tropical fruit, sugared citrus rind and candied ginger. End is drying, with some slighlty biscuit notes popping through. Aftertaste is mostly clean, with some residually dry grapefruit peel and soapiness.

M: Mildly carbonated. Medium bodied, or even a bit heavy. Dry in the finish, but lacks the crispness associated with a light lager.

O: I wonder what the hop bill on this bad boy is. It reminds me a lot of Stone 17th Anniversary. Like, a lot. Still, this one could use some "cleaning out". Reminds me too much of an ale, and misses on the clean/refreshing side.
