Our Victory at Sea Imperial Porter is a bold, smooth brew with just the right amount of sweetness. We infused this robust porter with whole vanilla beans and San Diego’s own Caffe Calabria coffee beans. The subtle roasted notes and minimal acidity of the cold brewed coffee, balances perfectly with the sweet caramel undertones of the malt, creating a winning combination for your palate.

Was lucky enough to visit Ballast Point tasting room in Little Italy and had this along with 2 BA versions, all excellent beers. Liked it enough to include in my SD beers to be shipped home package, definitely recommend trying.

Had first out of 22oz bomber; most recently on draft. I'm not generally a big porter fan, but this one was good - and even better on draft. Poured black with two-finger creamy head. Scent was pronounced coffee and vanilla, and taste was more coffee with a hint of vanilla sweetness and an interesting, smoky finish. Bottled version finished a lot dryer than I would have preferred, but draft version was smooth and pleasant.

22 oz bottle was poured into a Palm snifter.

Appearance: A two finger mocha head was poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a pitch black color with no vision of anything. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Roasted coffee, sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, no alcohol detected,

Taste: Same as above with some boozy alcohol in the rear. Smooth and tasty. Very balanced too.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, vanilla sweetness, a little bitterness, medium carbonation, and medium bodied.

Overall: I can finally see why people rave about this beer. Well worth it and reasonably priced too. I will drink more of these in the future.
