I finaly got to try this beer after drooling over it and could never find a variety case of it.

Pours a copper color with a small white head. The color turns to a burnt orange with no head.Nice lacing left on my glass.

Piney hops is pretty much all you smell.

Very tasty, piney hops lead to piney bitterness.I dont taste any other type of hop presence.

Perfect carbonation.Taste perfect. This is a sipper and savorer.

Great ipa and beer in general.I will check this stuff out again soon.

Poured into a standard pint glass a deep burnt orange color with tight formed but rather quick to fade one finger white head.Good complexity in the nose, citric hop aromas along with some alcohol dipped apricot, mixed with some hard water and caramel/biscuit.Pretty well balanced with the healthy hop dose winning the day,big citrus and resin mixed with a big hefty sweetish caramle base. Its good but not out of the main stream American IPA realm, thats not a bad thing by any means, just sayin.

Appearance – Beautiful and cloudy orange in color with a modest but stubborn head.

Smell – Wonderful mix of floral, pine, and citrus hops. There’s also a lovely toasted malt base to this one.

Taste – This ale is so complex it is simple. The numerous hops, which I can’t identify, work in perfect harmony. The malt base is there but in the background. The flavor is very subtle yet strong. This is a nice IPA.

Mouthfeel – About medium in the body and extremely refreshing. This one is extra smooth yet crisp and clean.

Drinkabilty – This was one of the most drinkable IPAs that I have had to date. This would be a great one to give to a friend as an introduction to the style.

Comments – Another wonderful offering from Ballast Point. Mickeymac was kind enough to send me this one. Sadly, this was the last of the awesome care package that he sent. Ironically, I think this also puts me over 500 karma points and gives me another dash of ale. How fitting.

Dark for an IPA and almost orange in color. Big foamy head and lots of bubbles rising to the top upon pouring. The aroma is slightly citrusy and not particularly big. This leads to a surprise because this is a powerful IPA that fills the mouth big time. I like hoppiness but would prefer a little more complexity over the fairly one-dimensional flavor of this stuff. If you don't like big Left Coast IPA's this isn't for you. Overall I liked it but will probably pick something else off the shelf next time I go for an IPA.

The appealing coopery color poured with a thin creamy head at first with nice lacing. The head diminished. The aroma hit me with a sweet estery (more sweet than spicey) aroma, slightly bready. Overall appealing nose. The taste was piney..earthy bitter on the back of the tongue that seemed to sustain itself between swigs. Light-medium body with light and crisp carbonation.

This pours a medium copper color with a three finger slightly brown foamy head. Little bubbles are left on top of the beer scattered around. Average head retention with great lacing left behind.

Smells of apricot, honey, lemons, grapes, caramel, biscuit, and bubblegum, it sure smells delicious.

Taste is full of citrus upfront with a nice malt backbone to balance it out, nice hop bitterness shows up at the end. Very balance beer IMO. Wonderful taste.

Medium bodied with just enough carbonation.

This is one great beer. I can drink this beer all throughout the summer. Great find and recommended. Reminds me kind of Alpha King from Three Floyds.

A - Amber color with a moderate head and carbonation. The head sticks around for a bit and also coats the side with it sticky goodness. Quite a bit of particulate matter even with an easy pour.

S - Lot of citrus and early hops, with a bit of light caramel sweetness.

T - Citrus up front with some pine notes in middle and to finish. More malty then I was expecting with a little bread note to go with the caramel and base malt.

M - Moderate body, the alcohol and carbonation with a little tingle and warmth to let it finish clean.

D - Very balanced IPA, not to heavy handed, good bit of bitterness but lots of aroma also. Nice body really makes this is great IPA to enjoy a few of.

Another winner from a San Diego brewery. This one poured a sunset orange color with a dense white head that left some nice lace. The smell was big on citrusy hops with a slight scent of malt way in the background. As for the taste, this has to be one of the more balanced IPA's I've ever had and would be a good session IPA for sure. The flavor is hoppy for sure, but it is balanced out very nicely by a thick malt backbone and a nice hearty mouthfeel. A great beer that I will revisit soon.

Pours into my glass very deep, somewhat hazy amber red. A healthy inch of creamy off white head on top that leaves sticky patches of lacing in its wake. Aromas are big on rich caramel and toffee malts. Floral, herbal, slightly citric hops are not far behind. Quite perfumy. There's somewhat of a biscuity quality here as well.

First sip brings a slightly sweet caramel/toffee malt body upfront. I get a touch of biscuit flavor in there as well. The floral, perfumy hops move in with a green, herbal tinge to them as well. Good bitterness follows and provides a nice respite from the sweetness. Finishes with lots of lingering caramel and toffee flavors, really too much for me in this instance.

Mouthfeel is creamy and medium bodied. Goes down smooth and is a pretty easy drinking IPA. Mellow carbonation throughout. Overall, this one seemed a little malt forward to me and the caramel/toffee was quite intense. Not something I would actively seek out but I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it. Thanks to Overlord for tossing this one my way.

Small head on the pour, quarter inch of dirty white foam of varying bubbles sizes reduced to a skim layer with sporadic lacing. Body is a light caramel color that sparkles in the light.

Aroma is sweet with bubble gum and cotton candy while this is colder and transitions to a bit more caramel as it warms. Floral and citrus hops really come out as well, not overly grapefruity though, a touch more tropical. A nicely put together, simple, aroma.

Taste is pretty good. Quite balanced. Has some slightly toasted malts that go with a touch of biscuit and some crystal malts add a slight touch of sugar, but not really sweet. Hops are still floral and citrus but this time come across with a more assertive resin, grapefruit bitterness, especially in the finish. Burps are quite hoppy the second time around too, hehe.

Nice medium bodied mouthfeel that is heavy and sticky enough to coat the tongue but not overwhelming. Carbonation adds just the right amount of crispness.

Super easy to put down, a nicely balanced beer in my opinion with a nice bitter edge to it, realitively full bodied, but still crisp. All of this really help with the drinkability here.

Pours translucent amber orange with a good 2-3 fingers of head and leaves a trail of sticky lacing behind. Big sweet floral aroma and citrus hops with a nice complement of malt make for a great scent. Was expecting more hops (don't see a bottled on date), though there is a nice crisp hop presence, again with citrus and florals dominating the hop profile. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side for an IPA, but some slightly oily feeling is there. Carbonation level is good, and the finish is dry with a lingering bitterness that is very pleasant. Very enjoyable, this is going down pretty fast. Alcohol is well hidden.
