Another solid offering I was privileged to try from Ballast Point.
Had their pale ale and was not too impressed, had to take the next step up.
Mixed a six and included dis.. appearance is light tan/golden reminiscent of most IPAs, head is white and frothy but minimal after a less than aggressive pour into a guiness tumbler..Smell is hoppy with the citrus and piney notes that I enjoy. Taste is just like the nose and the carbonation is solid, no problem here. The mouthfeel is good and characteristic of an IPA.
I enjoyed this brew, need to get more.
This is a good solid medium between the pale ale and the sculpin.

Golden light-orange color. Sudsy topper. Looks good. Could do without the frosted glass.
Pine, citrusy orange, apricot, and spicy floral notes. Lotta hoppy in the nose. Pale semi-sweet malty balance going on stung by a piquant alcohol odor.
Major pine, citrus, and spicy woodiness. A lot of bitterness, upfront, with a big malt punchiness. Excellently hoppy. A little bruising.
Mouthfeel is delightfully engaging. Carbonated well. Nice spiciness. Body has some crush to it. Points knocked for heavy heat.
Solid IPA. Not a typically West Coast, West Coast IPA.
