On tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, and lots of really nice pumpkin pie spices. Taste is much the same with cocoa and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with some great pumpkin pie aromas and flavors that work extremely well with the base beer.

Near black with a foamy dark brown head. Leaves the glass spotted with big bubbles of stick. Pretty.
Lots of nutmeg, cinnamon, and some faint chocolate in the aroma. The coffee and vanilla aromas from the base beer are largely lost. Very expressive and powerful aroma, though this doesn't resemble the base beer much at all.
I really like the flavor, at least initially. It reminds me of a chocolate-covered pumpkin pie. There's lots of good amounts of pumpkin pie spice and chocolate notes. As with the aroma, there's not much of the base beer remaining (vanilla, coffee, and roast), but lots of rich, expressive, bold pumpkin pie spices. When this reaches room temperature, some definite alcohol harshness comes to the forefront.
Medium bodied with low-creamy carbonation.
Excited to try this, but it didn't exactly live up to my high expectations. The aggressive alcohol harshness grew as the beer warmed bringing my overall enjoyment down.

Pumpkin Pie Victory at Sea
A: Pour is every bit as nice as regular Victory. Black with a nice one finger ran head. Spotty lacing.
S: Heavy on the baking spices. A hint of pumpkin with a load of nutmeg and cinnamon. A bit of a cayenne spiciniess to it as well.
T: Definitely not as good admit sounds. Shows touches of victory, which is good, but they're held down by a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg. The spices are so heavy that they take on an almost bitter character with the finish being like you just chewed a handful of cinnamon. A great idea, but the pumpkin doesn't really shine at all. Just a spice bomb.
