Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA
Jet black, shiny, with a thin light brown cap. Sheets of lacing down the glass. Thick and menacing.
Definite ghost pepper spice in the aroma, along with some of the base beer: coffee, perhaps some mild chocolate, and just a touch of vanilla. The base beer is largely hidden though behind an obvious, earthy spice character.
The ghost pepper is the dominant flavor in the beer, and leaves a long, lingering chile presence in and down the throat. A full mouth swish of this beer leaves the roof of my mouth on fire for a while. I don't get much chocolate character and the base beer is largely hidden, but for chile fanatics, this one would push your button.
Medium in body with moderate carbonation.
Very spicy, though that is certainly the intended characteristic, I'm sure. Don't swish it or leave it in your mouth too long, because it will burn.
Serving type: on-tap
