20oz glass purchased and consumed at Bennedito's in Spokane for $5.50. It was the first time I'd seen a beer from this brewery.
Poured an opaque shade of brown, with a tan foam head. Modest amounts of lace were to be seen on the sides of the 20oz Guinness glass I was served.
A little bit roasty in the nose. No obvious hop aroma, and no more coffeeish than a typical porter.
Unlike in the scent, coffee flavor merges at the forefront of the taste, but it's not overly bitter tasting. There's also a slightly sweet, caramel-like taste in the background, along with a slightly acidic note.
Medium bodied, with a slightly coating mouthfeel.
Not a bad beer at all. I look forward to trying other beers from Salmon River.

Pours the expected black with a darker tan head.. nice retention and lacing... served in a big ole pint glass.
Nose is cold brewed coffee and a mild grassy hoppiness... maybe a bit of pale malty sweetness to help balance, but I could be imagining things.
Flavor is of course coffee centric, but seems a little thin.. One dimensional and unapologetic.. needs a layer of sweetness to bump it up to my next level.
Body is good... carbonation is fine.. a pint was about 2x as much as I really would have liked.
3.75's across the board.

Appearance: Dark dark brown, held up to the light dark amber. White head dissipates completely and leaves zero lacing.
Smell: Huge coffee flavor. Almost moreso than an actual cup of coffee.
Taste: follows the nose. Its like drinking coffee in beer form. Bigger coffee taste than Founder Breakfast Stout.
Mouthfeel: Good amount of carbonation. Fairly smooth. Of course there is a bitterness from the coffee.
Overall: This was a very enjoyable beer. Not sure if I could drink two in one sitting though as the coffee flavor was so big and the ABV fairly high. Definitely give it a shot if you are in the McCall area!

Glass: 23-oz. glass
From: Old Chicago in Boise, Idaho
Price: $5 (happy hour)
Purchased: Dec. 18, 2013
Consumed: Dec. 18, 2013
Poured an almost pitch black color with 3-to-4 fingers of tan head when I got it. Tons of foamy spider web lacing along the sides. Good layer of retention.
Smelled dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, coffee beans, roasted nuts, bitterness and some smoky fire.
Tasted similar to the nose with dark chocolate, coffee malts, chocolate milk, toffee, caramel, smoky fire and roasted nuts.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long bitter finish.
Just a very good porter. I’d have it again for sure.

On-tap @ Bardenay Boise ID. Served in a pint glass.
A: Dark brown body with red highlights - practically no head or lace.
S: Overall the nose is a bit muted but the coffee itself is pretty strong in the aroma, fresh and fine-ground and ever so slightly sweet. Malt and roast are there too...maybe hints of caramel or nutty sweetness.
T: Coffee is nice, taste is a bit thin but there is fresh coffee throughout, slightly bready, hints of caramel, slightly spicy and astringent.
MF: Thinner medium feel, slightly bitter and dry from the coffee.
O: Pleasant and a good coffee-forward offering. Not quite 'excellent' but a pretty good year-round offering from an Idaho brewery.
