From Bottle Revolution in Raleigh.

Dark caramel brown pour with thin rich caramel head. Not much lace, but does leave a thin sheen of head to the end.

Burnt caramel and raisin nose. Earthy, peaty tones.

Fruit filled with sweet cherries, figs, and a bit of prune and raisin in the end. Very sweet. I do get some smoky peat, but not enough over the strong fruit.

Heavy body, actually very heavy. Matches the strong flavors.

Not a bad glass of beer, but definitely a cold weather drinker. Also, one that is easier to share.

Pours a deep, dark brownish black with very little head that fades immediately. The nose is caramel, chocolate, roasted malt and faint anise with faint alcohol esters. The taste is heavy chocolate and roasted malts with some caramel sweetness in there as well. Three are notes of dark fruit and licorice as well. The alcohol is noticeable, but adds warmth and the phenols are a welcome addition to the flavors. The mouthfeel is full bodied, moderately carbonated, warm, and smooth.

This is really an enjoyable beer. At times it comes close to a stout, but the caramel malts do come through to remind you it's a Wee Heavy. It's balanced, drinkable, and delicious.

22 oz from Roth's Sunnyside Market. $7.99. Dark ruby red ale small tight light tan head..seems to be to style. Nice complex aromas caramel, bread, nuts slight sweet alcohol..but no smoke/peat. Sweet malt flavours..some bubble gum, spices, phenolic.Low carbonation..slight peaty smoke, alcohol well hidden for 9%. Palate is OK for style not great Overall i am rather dissapointed..i dithered for a week over the high price ..and really its not worth it. Kinda boring just like its name.
