10/21/21 Never had a Rye IPA before. Copper color. Unpleasant bitterness. Would not like to have again.

Dirty gold color. Clear. Blanket lacing on the glass from the continuous, but small, head.

Smells sweet like an Amber Ale. Very low hop to nose.

The flavor is far dryer than the smell suggests and more like a Rye. There's a small amount of the longer roasted malts on the tongue. Surprisingly thin with an elevated effervescence. The finish features a light presence of yeast with a heavier level of hop bitterness. Balanced aftertaste.

Surprisingly nice RIPA. Picked up for no particular reason in Bridgton, Maine. Very inviting, sweet, malty aroma and really nicely balanced. Solid beer and would certainly have again.

Purchased this at the wine shop in Bar Harbor, ME. Undated bomber priced at $5.99. Poured into a teku glass. Pours a hazy, dark-copper color with a creamy light tan head, that sticks around and leaves some huge lace. Aroma is somewhat muted, but displays some caramel, brown sugar, slight citrus - more malt character here than hops. The hops make a presence in the taste, primarily as bitterness, but with a slight grapefruit rind flavor upfront, followed by a bit of spice from the rye, then finishing with a nice combination of sugar and hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is just about right, medium bodied, silky, slightly dry and a little flat. Overall, I enjoyed this beer quite a lot despite not being a big fan of rye malt in beers.

22oz bottle, no bottle date anywhere

Pours an amber color with a slight orange tint to it, good sized off-white head, fades at a slow rate, leaves some sticky patches of lacing on the glass.

Smell has a deep malt aroma, some subtle spiciness from the rye, hop presence is pretty decent with a citrusy aspect.

Taste starts out with the citrusy hops and gets mellowed by the caramel malt, some nice rye spiciness adds a nice depth, carbonation is spot on to lend a creamy body to the beer, finishes slightly dry yet also sweet.

Of all the Penobscot Bay beers, so far this is their best to date.

Poured from the bottle into a shaker pint glass. No obvious bottle dating,

An opaque copper orange body, with lots of cola rising slow moving carbonation. Head makes a finger off white and soapy. Settles nicely, scattered ring lacing a bit too.

Spicy malt action, mixing with a little bit of orange citrus hop action, even a little bit of mango and juice flesh tropical. Light and airy. Fairly standard but pretty solid.

Juice action continues on the palate. Real solid spicy rye backbone mixes with a tropical juicy hop presence. Good rolling juice mix, with light tropical fruit notes, some mango and even pineapple. Nice lingering spice and bitterness.

A real solid brew, and nicely balanced in its simplicity. Good solid RIPA, quite a surprise and neat find.
