Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #47 (Dec 2010):
Big heady start with lots of lacing to boot; clear chestnut-brown color has "wintertime" written all over it. Toasted biscuit aroma runs deep; hint of brown bread and yeast. Smooth and creamy full-ish body. Heavy handed on the toasted biscuit flavor, nutty with dried grass and a hint of burnt sugar shows the maltiness has complexity. Hops aim for balance and hit their mark; leafy herbal flavor continues on. Suggestion of toasted cocoa nibs. Just a touch of warming alcohol and a quick glimpse of fruitiness in the toasty, bittersweet finish. A great change-up to the usual spiced winter seasonals--recommended.

Pours an amber/brown color with a small sized light tan head, cap stays on top for quite awhile, some patchy lacing along the glass as it leaves.
Smell is primarily caramel and roasted malt, light hop aroma way in the back.
Taste has a decent body for an altbier, the malt is the show, has subtle hints of chocolate and a faint bitterness in the aftertaste, soft carbonation with a decent creaminess compliments.
An easy drinking beer, something I might return to in the near future, especially at its budget friendly price.

Pours a light tan three-finger head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy brown/amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Mostly malt nose, flavor is burnt caramel with very slight bitter aftertaste. $5.50 for a 22oz bottle from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

Frosty Knuckle Special Reserve pours a clear dark brown with a small, creamy white head on top. As the foam disappears clumps and spots of lace clings to the glass.
The aroma is malty with biscuit and caramel notes. A little bit of ripe fruit is also present.
Each sip of this medium bodied beer is soft on the palate, moderately carbonated, with a creamy mouth feel. The flavor is malty and sweet with earthy notes. It begins with caramel and biscuit, nutty, with some dark fruit mixed in. Finishes with hints of floral hops. Once gone the sweet caramel notes linger on the palate.
Not a bad beer, but to me there's something 'off' in the flavor. Sort of an earthy note that I don't really like. I think it's the fruityness I detect. It's malty and quite drinkable with the flavors coming out as it warms.

Poured from the tap into a tasting glass
The color is a clear brown with a half finger of light brown head. No lacing.
The smell is malty with some brown sugar flavor and has a nice hoppy bitterness as well.
The Taste with some nice malt flavor with some roasty flavor that comes across later. Some nice earthy hop flavor.
The feel of this beer was a bit light. It went down pretty easy and was really a great beer to be introduced to a new local brewer
