Pours a hazed coppery orange with a creamy khaki colored head. Fruity aroma with caramel, roasted malt and feint grapefruit. The mouthfeel is medium with a prickly airy carbonation to it. There's a piney hoppiness upfront that's followed by flavors of caramel and citrus from the hops. Pleasant ale fruitiness that arrives midway and finishes with a resiny bitterness.

Smells crisp and malty, with large toasted grain and brown sugar aromas, as well as a hint of hops.

On the tongue, the malt reigns large and immediate, coming on in waves of toasted grains that are heavily reminiscent of Grape Nuts cereal, with a distinct thread of pine, as well as caramels. Light hints of fruit esters accompany these malts, including apple and apricot notes. The hops are present from the beginning, but come through more strongly midstream as the malts fade off, and the ale finishes with a nice bitter grapefruit aftertaste. Carbonation seems to be slightly heavy, providing a nice fizz.

Overall, the flavors in this ale mingle well together, and while they are on the medium to medium-light side, enough attention has been paid to balance to make this an easily-drinkable, good quality ale. Perfect summer or bar fare, as well as being a far higher-grade alternative to Budweisers.

Thanks to stearns16 for throwing this in a trade.

A - Poured a light copper color with a thin white head that leaves spotty lacing behind

S - Is of bready malt with some funky hops

T - Starts off malty then the hops bitter things up but the overall taste isn't that good

M - This beer has a medium body with medium carbonation to it

O - While this isn't a complete drain pour the flavor profile just doesn't make it enjoyable glad I had the chance to give it a try but ones enough

One of my buddies had a few of the old Green Monstas lying in the fridge so I decided to get the new IPA version of the beer and compare. Have had this before and did not like it much but hey, just trying to make it interesting.

A-Pale orange in color. A bit murky too. Head rises then lazily falls. Decent lacing.

S-Malty sweetness with some lingering hoppy notes. Leans more toward the malty side than the hoppy side. Not dynamic by any means.

T-Very mild hop flavor is overshadowed by the malts. A bit too sweet, and the hops that are detectable are pretty lame here. Not too much to describe.

M-Medium body. Kind of a slick icky feel that I am not too fond of (probably because I don't care for the taste much).

O/D-Glad the IPA version killed and replaced this one and I didn't love the IPA much. Not my style. Just nothing I would ever drink again. The new Green Monsta wins.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Best by: june 2011

A- Pours a mostly golden color with some orange hue. Light head with large carbonation bubbles. No lacing.

S- A light cereal grain aroma. Some very faint citrus and grassy hops. Very light all around.

T- Light overall. Sweet bready malt with some caramel tone. A faint hop bitterness. No real direction. Finish and after taste is a somewhat unpleasant bitter grass taste.

M- Light, pings, mildly drying. The finish that lingers is poor.

D/O- For a beer of 6.4% I would expect much more. everything was light and didn't meld well. This is gonna meet the sink.

Pours a mild amber color with a two-finger head into my glass.

Grassy hops followed by bready malt. Very hop forward.

Taste is very interesting with a strong taste of bread dough followed by lightly grassy hops.

Like chewing on a piece of bread. Flavorful. Easy to enjoy.

Love this pale ale. Worthy of the name too!
