Received this in a very nice package from nonstick in our most recent trade, along with its little brother, California style IPA. Thanks Chris!

Appearance- Pours a medium shade of amber with just a touch more orange than the California single IPA version and about a finger of head. Head dies back fairly quickly on this very to some patching thin sheeting. A fair amount of beading carbonation to begin with but gradually dies down. Not much in the way of lacing however.

Smell- Much like the single IPA, a great citrusy nose. Huge notes of orange cream, bitter grapefruit rinds, and maybe even some pineapple here. Big fruits with little in the way of pine. Smells very good.

Taste- Starts off fruity, particularly heavy on the grapefruit rinds. More orange to follow up and again, some bready malt showing through, but not in a show stealing way. Finishes with bitter hop resins that, not surprisingly, are more evident than in the single IPA.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability- Mouthfeel is slick and creamy with enough carbonation to keep it moving. Drinkability is very good for a DIPA and again, the ABV won't kill you at 7.5% for a double IPA.

Overall, a very solid DIPA and something I'd be interested in getting more of. Interestingly though, I think I actually slightly preferred the California style IPA when compared within their style category. Very solid and recommended though.

From the large 5 year old bottle it pours a hazy dark amber color with a modest off-white head that eventually diminishes to a thin layer and nice ring. The scent still has notes of pineapple. The taste remains on the hoppy side, with a malt base.

Poured into a can glass yields a foamy 1 inch head and a crystal clear amber appearance

Aroma is earthy, bread, and a hint of pine. Loaded with hops

Taste follows the nose as it tastes earthy and malty with a hint of apricot

It’s a bit of a tongue grabber, resins and very bitter finish are pronounced. Medium carbonation, the alcohol comes thru as well

Overall if you are looking for a DIPA that’s not smooth, creamy and juicy, this one is for you.

Drank from a 12 ounce can.

Appearance: honey color, nice 1” head, medium lacing.

Smell: grapefruit, citrus, mild hoppy.

Taste: bitter hops, smooth and boozy.

Mouth Feel: lightly carbonated, thin, smooth.

A drinkable beer but boozy. I would not purchase again but would drink if offered.

Tasty and rich beer. Apricot hue and creamy off white head. Notes of honey, apricot and pineapple. Pineapple and resin flavor, rich and a little funky. Some green vegetable notes too. Not a subtle beer, but well balanced enough to be tasty and go down easy.

12 oz can. 11/2/18

Pours out as an amber color with gold highlights. Pillowy, pure white foam, clumpy and lacy!

There is some very sweet aspects to the aroma, first is the caramel smell to the malt, and then it's a very sweet fruity blast from the hops. A bit of alcohol heat tingles, then it's key lime pie, tropical fruits, pineapple and earthy grains.

First impression on the first sip is....boozy! Some high heat and then a rush pf tropical sweetness from the hops. It's not very long before a seriously bitter and earthy dry effect rolls in and mingles with the heat. Complexity of flavor is very good with some sharp edges and sip-it only style. The malt has a very nice, medium bodied, caramel style sweetness. The high alpha bitter and dry side of the hops is pretty intense.

Overall, I'm personally enjoying this very much, bu the heat is pretty cranked up but the hop and malty balance is sublime.
