Nice color and smell. A nice orange/brown color. Smells little piney/earthy. Wishing for a more hoppy flavor. Good feeling in mouth. has that good after taste. Drinking it from growler that was filled today. Going to go for 2nds just to be sure. Better safe than sorry.

Another of my local, in-person traders, Sam Knocken, just laid this on me yesterday. I am watching the first Yankee Stadium outdoor hockey game on NBC and gearing up to head off to the movies. In the beer 2525 ...
From the bottle: "Fresh brewed in Saratoga Springs, New York."; "This is a handcrafted, traditional 'West Coast' IPA with a perfect balance of malt blended with Cascade and Fuggles hops. We hope you will enjoy this full bodied, nicely hopped India Pale Ale."
My time grows short today, so I went with a heavy-handed pour, creating a dense finger of rocky, tawny head with great retention. Color was a hazy orangish-yellow (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose had an odd tang, not as hoppy as I had been hoping for. Instead, it had more of an earthiness, perhaps from the Fuggles hops. Mouthfeel was medium, but the hops were very earthy and I was fully put in mind of an English IPA. I do not want to say that I was disappointed, but it was not what I was expecting based on the label. Finish was semi-dry, but the Cascade hops seemed to have gotten lost in the mix. Onward!

Server in a chilled pint glass
Appearance: dark copper hue with slight haziness. Head sticks around and laces glass nicely
Smell: herbally, floral. Pick up rosemary, pine, and fresh cut grass. Slight smell of citrus, grapefruit and lemon.
Taste: while described as as a west coast IPA, this is definitely more of an English taste to it. The fuggle hops are present with the herbal, almost vegetable like taste. The cascade balance out with some citrus notes and a little bitterness. Nuttiness is present in the background.
Mouthfeel: good crispness. Sticky remnants and IPA taste lingers.
Overall: great IPA. While a misnomer to a west coast style, still a flavorful IPA. Just enough malt to slightly balance things, but keep the IPA flavor
