A great oatmeal stout. Great body and flavor although it could have been more full. Smell is slightly lacking but may just be from bottle. Would love to try this on draft somewhere or in a growler. Would recommend for most Oatmeal Stout lovers. I would say this is a must try.

We are huge dark beer fans and this is our favorite 'every day' stout. Pours beautifully and has that great 'Guinness' appearance. Packed with flavour, never disappoints. We get regular growler fills from Old Saratoga Brewing Co, tasting room. $7

One of my favorite oatmeal stouts. I love that it is located locally, and that I can stop in for samples. Their whole line seems to reasonably priced. Last year I only bought a six pack then I found out it was seasonal. This year I already have a case, and I am headed to Minogues for another growler of it Yum!

Had in a bottle pulled from fridge. no freshness date. poured into a pint glass.

pours out a opaque black with 2 fingers of creamy expresso like head.

the first thing that jumps out at me in the aroma is smoke. behind that there is some roasted/ burnt malt, and a bit of lacto and oatmeal like creaminess and just a hint of dark fruits.

wow, very tasty stout we got here. follows the aroma with a nice balance of smokey burnt wood, heavily roasted malt, and oatmeal/ lacto creaminess. behind that, theres a bit of dark fruitiness, raisons, dates, figs, etc.

smooth creamy medium body. adequate carbonation for the style.

very drinkable beer, could easily drink several.. and for 7$ a sixpack, you cant go wrong at all. definatly improved my overall opinion on mendocino brewing company. the welcome addition of smoke really made this beer for me. highly recommended IMHO.

Picked up a six pack at the Saratoga Minogue's

A - Dark in color and opaque
S - Rich, creamy, I can smell chocolate and cocoa
T - Not as think as expected, well balanced and smooth
M - Sessionable for sure, creamy.. but not heavy.
O - This is just a great all around oatmeal

A: black with think, sustaining head; lacing is present but more sparse than expected
S: roasted nuttiness, chocolate, coffee, as expected
T: the lacing belies the fact that this is not a nice, creamy stout. However, there is also nothing unexpected. Roasted notes of coffee, roasted grain. Do not note the chocolate from the smell.
M: as stated, not creamy and coating as I expected, but the bitterness of toasted nuts does kind if linger.
O: solid, although not exceptional, offering. No surprises good or bad.

This is better than I remembered other examples from this brewery being, but I will need to review that. It's a reasonable representation of the style. It opens with just a bit of aroma and a normal look - motor oil.

The aroma though weak is OK - nothing wrong here. The taste is a roasty, hoppy affair, maybe more so than many of the style. It doesn't seem particularly complex, but it is pleasant.

The aftertaste is easy to take (it fades to a little bit of bitter). It would have been nice to see this same brew a bit more over the top - imperial. As is, it is a good value and not an insult to drink.

Picked up a six pack of this seasonal for only $3.99(leftover seasonal stock) at Oliver's in Albany, NY.

A-Solid black opaque. The head is thick, creamy, and almost milk chocolate in color.

S-Sweet roasted grains, some cocoa, and some coffee. Everything that you would expect and want to be there.

T-The taste starts with the sweet caramel malts, and almost buttery smooth oatmeal flavors. Then the bitter roasted malts come in, and it finishes nicely with cocoa and coffee flavors.

M-Medium to full body with appropriate carbonation.

O-A really decent oatmeal stout with the full range of rich flavors that you want from the style. It seems to be well balanced, and is really hitting the spot during this chilly Spring night after a long day in the sun. I have nothing bad to say about this beer; and, at a price like that, how could I complain?
