Visited the Avenue Pub for the first time today during the release of Pour me Somethin' Mistah from Stone and NOLA breweries. Not really a bad walk from the French Quarter (street car off-line for Mardi Gras parades).
Bar is in an old house on St. Charles. Good atmosphere and very friendly staff. A little smokey, but it is a bar.
The food was pretty good and certainly satisfied our munchies after the half hour walk from the Quarter.
Beer selection is fantastic. Going to a place like this makes me sad that Mississippi remains last in just about everything including craft beer availability. I would love to have a place half as interesting back home.
This place should not be missed by any beer geek visiting the big easy.

Great selection of draft and bottles. I've been traveling around the US and have been looking for any type of de Struise beer for awhile (either bottle or tap)--they had Weltmerz on tap. Definitely a world class beer list.
I went on a Friday night around 9:30 PM. Place was busy, but not packed. Service upstairs was slow and impersonal. Downstairs service was better. Nice that they could keep my tab at both bars. I went for the beer list, not the service, but would have been nice if the bar staff demonstrated an interest in what they had available.
Atmosphere was what you would expect from an older NOLA bar (i.e., older building, creaky stairwell, mismatch furniture, low light, etc.). Crowd the night I went was mostly college-educated late 20's, early 30's. Was able to easily find a place to sit with my wife.
Did not try the food.
