What a unique place. I have been here a few times, and have always had a great time. An ultra chill place, but you have to know the rules. Order food from the right bar, only certain beers are served at the balcony, the main menu is served later at night. Anyway, none of that seems to bother me because the bartenders are great and explain everything. Two main areas, a downstairs that allows smoking, and upstairs/balcony that is smoke free. I cannot get enough of the old world French/Cajun look and feel of the place. Just perfect for a laid back and enjoyable session. I can people watch and sip on great beer all day on the balcony.
The service is great, everyone is very Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they have to offer. They know beer and how to serve it to a T. The food I had was very good. Smoked sausage, pulled pork, and pasta salad. Everything was great, and the rest of the menu is available later.
The selection is awesome. A handful of LA locals, but none of those are any good outside of NOLA. They do a cask Friday which is great. Happened to be Saint Arnold Endeavor. The rest of the tap list ranges from Green Flash, Saint Somewhere, Dieu du Ciel, and Prof Fritz 1809. All are in good to great condition. Believe it or not the bottle list is even more impressive. Cantillon, JW Lees, Drie Fonteinen, Evil Twin, etc, etc.
One of the best places to have a beer in the Country, period. Just awesome, and I can't recommend this place enough.

Great selection of draft and bottles. I've been traveling around the US and have been looking for any type of de Struise beer for awhile (either bottle or tap)--they had Weltmerz on tap. Definitely a world class beer list.
I went on a Friday night around 9:30 PM. Place was busy, but not packed. Service upstairs was slow and impersonal. Downstairs service was better. Nice that they could keep my tab at both bars. I went for the beer list, not the service, but would have been nice if the bar staff demonstrated an interest in what they had available.
Atmosphere was what you would expect from an older NOLA bar (i.e., older building, creaky stairwell, mismatch furniture, low light, etc.). Crowd the night I went was mostly college-educated late 20's, early 30's. Was able to easily find a place to sit with my wife.
Did not try the food.
