What a gem of a place! Thanks are due to Knifestyles and naproxen to recommending this place to me. I stopped by last night after the Opeth show and was very very impressed.

The Pony Bar is a small place with a longish bar with about 20 stools and a few barrels for tables, as well as regular tables. Most of the clientele seemed yuppie, but thankfully, the friendly kind. The selection was great - they had 2 casks and about 20 taps. They had a bunch of really fresh hop bombs (Double Trouble, Big A, Hopsickle etc) that we all enjoyed, but they also had several other regional beers from Chelsea, Sixpoint, Ithaca and a few more. The service was quick and friendly, there were 2 bartenders manning the taps and they were friendly and chatty. Didn't quite get to try the food because we were late, but the menu did seem decent.
One of the best things about this place are the prices. It seemed that every beer was $5, either for a pint or 8oz pour (for the more high ABV stuff). $5 for a pint of Lagunitas WTF on cask was a great deal IMO, and if I'm ever in the neighborhood again, I will definitely stop in. And if it matters, this place (and neighborhood in general) is pretty gay friendly.

Not a ton of taps (~20), but everything on tap was stuff you don't see at any other bar. Went on a Saturday night and it wasn't packed, but most seats were taken. Best part was all beers were $6. Great beer and it only cost $6!?! They also had two TVs playing the world cup! You wouldn't think that is all that impressive, but most "Craft beer" bars tend to ditch the TVs to promote conversation, but I enjoy my conversations with the game on in the background while I drink great beer. I'm going to make it a point to stop at the Pony Bar every time I hit the city.
