Presentation: Tall slender true 750 ml green magnum that is only capped, not caged and corked. No freshness date through this beer is brewed to the Belgian Triple strength so it will be able and even evolve after months if not years of aging. Sediment floats loosely on the bottom of the bottle so careful pouring is best to insure that the sediment does not spill into the glass.

Appearance: Pretty clear with a mild chill haze upon the light golden orange hued brew, nice creamy looking white lace though some bigger bubbles stick around from the pouring.

Smell: Macintosh apple peels, lemon grass and light unrefined orange blossom honey in the nose as well as an underlying earthiness. Hops are in the aroma also with more a sweeter hop oil and semi coarse flowery hop leaf.

Taste: Moderate body with a soft, smooth and creamy carbonation that holds a grip on crispness also. Honey and raw sugar cane malt sweetness, vague tropical fruit estery alcohol mingles with the sweetness. Fruit flavours of honey dew melon and tangerines play with the palate as well as the sweet spicy alcohol that warms the mouth. The phenolic character peaks with suggestions of cinnamon, anise, black pepper and bitter field greens. Hop bitterness gains sharpness and adds an earthened, sweet hop oil flavour from middle to end. After taste is a bitter sweet journey from sweet to dry.

Notes: Knockout of a brew, triple in style with the hops taken up a notch or two. Big phenolic and fruit ester flavours splashing in the palate. Mad Bitch is right, this brew does a number on your tongue by slapping it around and telling it that the Mad Bitch is boss. "Slap!", yes mam may I have another.

Awesome Belgian Triple!!! Although it was a bit cloudy, I think that was due more to the fact that I had just received the shipment and I should have given it more time to settle. The aroma was good, slightly sweet and fruity. The flavor is INTENSE, everything you expect out of a triple along with a bit of a hop spiciness. The 10% alcohol presence adds to the intensity. A definite must try for all you Belgian beer lovers out there.

on-tap at la trappe in SF, a rare treat from the taplines

I'll always have a weakness from tripels - clean flavor profiles, potent but not abrasive, often gorgeously presented. De Dolle nails this one - a definite classic - lots of honey, clover, yeast, bubblegum, clove - all the classic profiles. Extremely drinkable and refreshing.

Bright iridescent orange that glowed in the light this is amongst the most gorgeous tripels I've seen. The head was white and bubbly that collared quickly but laced well.

The scent was fruity, clovey and a touch yeasty. Flowery aromas gave way to a more clove-centric scent.

The taste is superb with huge flowery flavor, honey, clover, sweet candy, doughy malt and did I mention flowers. There's a honeysuckle flower taste that hangs around that is so alluring.

I rank this amongst the best tripels I have had; it is smooth, light, tasty, flowery and and just good to drink.

Served in an oversized wine glass at Sergio's World of Beer in Louisville, KY

This is not an 'exceptional' beer.

S - Peach, Grape and flowery alcohol.

T - Real sweet. Peach. Almost a syrupy taste - its that sweet. Pretty much just taste alcohol.

M- It burns. high viscosity. 10 ABVs got their pants down giving the full moon.

O - Hard to drink. semi nice aromas. simply- too boozy. i won't buy this again.

On-tap 4/25/2012 at Julian’s, in Providence, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a bright gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma contains fruit, Belgian yeast, some spice, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of caramel, spices and fruit. Then some breadiness comes in from Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. The hops presence is mild but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sweet.

O: Tasty, goes down dangerously easily, not too filling, strong but well-disguised kick, good representation of style, this is a very good stronger Belgian-style beer to drink for a while.

Had this on tap at Monk's Kettle, in the Mission district of San Francisco. Poured a medium honey color with a light frothy head. Smells light and airy almost as if you could smell a late summer barley harvest. Highly drinkable, hints of allspice and overall a very good beer. Would deffinately order this again.

Enjoyed on tap at the Armsby Abbey's 3 year anniversary event on 8/24.

A - Poured into a chalice a straw colour with a massive three finger head that faded to leave lots and lots of sticky side lacing.

S - Some nice light funk and fruit. Little bit of cloves and citrus (lemon).

T - Holy crap. I'm getting wonderful citrus, cloves, and I get some bubblegum too. Infact, lots of bubblegum.

M - Really nice carbonation here. Keeps everythign light. While you cant gulp this back it sure isnt a sipper.

O - Overall this was spectacular. Hands down the favorite of the night behind Cantillon on tap.

Poured into a goblet at The Nook in Huntsville, AL

A- This draft poured a clear amber, I was expecting more of a cloudy haze. This beer did not look like it tasted.

S- Greatness! Clovey & green apples with finishing tones of lemon & raisins.

T- The taste is exceptional, just a tad bit dry.

M-The mouthfeel is clean and spicy.

One of my fave tripels.

Poured slightly hazed amber with a nice white head that dissipates a bit. Aroma of floral hops and a bit of spice. Taste of light fruits and light sugars, some alcohol bite. Mouthfeel is medium, with a bit of harshness from the alcohol. Moderately drinkable. Good beer.

On tap at Stone.

A: It's the color of apple juice, with a diminutive white head.

S: Bready malt blends with clove-like spicy phenols and notes of apple and pear. A slight sugary character is evident. Some orange and a dash of banana. Spices really come out with warming.

T: Phenols are reminiscent of white pepper and clove. Fruit notes are of orange and apple. Moderately sweet throughout, with a slight Belgian sugar quality. Finish is smooth, fruity, and lightly spicy. Booze provides warming and a little flavor. Very well hidden for 10%.

M: Medium in body with upper low carbonation. Mouthfeel is smooth with alcohol warming.

Overall: A pretty good Tripel. Not a style I find very interesting and this did nothing to sway me.

Pours a very nice translucent dark golden color with a very persistent one finger white head. Lots of carbonation coming from the bottom. Great lacing with creamy foam.

Aroma is yeasty with flowers and fruit/citric/sweetness like mango and peach. It has also a doughy smell to it.

taste begins very sweet marmelade and candy-like. Then I get a lot of fruity esters like orange, mango and apricot. Not much bitterness at all.

Mouthfeel is creamy and amazing. Carbonation is high but very smooth.

Great drinkability on this 10 % beer. Alcohol is barely noticeable.
Overall a great and complex triple that relies greatly on the Belgian yeast for it's favor profile. I would definitely heve it again.

On tap at memphis taproom. Awesome! De dolle on draft mission complete.

A- a finger of bright white head that settles rather quickly to leave a few spots of cascading lace and a nice ring around the glass. Hazy straw yellow orange in color.

S- at first spice, dry funk, musty with a good yeasty hit. Then with some good warming a whole other nose comes forth. Lots of ripe juicy fruits and a hint of tartness comes in and really blows the mind.

T- spicy and yeasty up front with a candy sugar sweetness that rolls slowly in a dried fruit and honey hit. The spice is hard to place and its driving me crazy. Bone dry biscuit malts that are just pooping right now. Dries orange peel and corriander.

M- just about medium in body with a carb that fits just right and brings the brew to lovely places in the mouth. Super dry finish.

D- the best trip I've ever had. Hands down. This was worth the wait, so many years of living from bottle to bottle and now this. Big ups to onix1agr for making this all happen.

Reviewed from my notes. Served in a tulip glass at the Lion's Pride.

A: Opaque golden yellow liquid with a thin white foam head. Patchy lacing.

S: Slight musty yeast aroma. A bit of hops. All around subtle, but appealing, aroma.

T: Lemongrass malty flavor. Not too sweet. Not as much pepper as a lot of triples. Possibly drier than others as well. I like it a lot.

M: Full bodied with medium carbonation. Not a lot of coating--what is there is a bit sweet. Not as light or bubbly as a lot of other Triples I've had.

D: Very easy drinking. No aspect is too extreme. I want to go find myself some bottles of this to have on hand. If the draft list here at the Lion's Pride wasn't so impressive and full of beers I want to try, I would order myself a second glass.

Had this on draught at a special Belgium event at Chappy's in Dayton -- served in a special 6 oz wine-like tasting glass.

A: Dark golden color with a little head that recedes quickly.

S: Fresh fruity aroma

T: Sweet candy tones with malty flavors of dark fruit, plums and raisins. Sweet malty notes with a lemony tartness in the finish.

M: full bodied, light carbonation.

D: Of the 4 Belgium beers I had this night, although all were good, this one stood out the least.

On tap at Max's today.

The bitch pours a golden peach color with very good head retention and lots of sticky lacing all around. The nose on this beer is fantastic... I get orange citrus, kumquat, light licorise, some dank green tobaacco and a boatload of spice. Flavors replicate the nose, but this is easily one of the most complex beers I've ever tasted. The beer has an incredible array of honey and tropical fruit flavors, but the finish is almost completely dry, with some significant bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a protracted, drawn out bitter finish. For all the spice and tropical fruit, this beer is incredibly drinkable. Mmmm.... so good.

There are better Belgian trippels out there I suppose.... but they are very few and far between.

Had this on tap at the Portland Int'l. Beer Fest (2009). The colour was straw-golden with no head. The aroma was that of granulated sugar and spice. On the palate, more sugar, some caramel and spice and a hint of floral character which came through on the finish, primarily.

Served on-tap at Monks in a tulip glass

Pours a hazy light golden color with a huge white billowy head.

Nose is sweet and fruity, seems lighter than in the bottle. More citrus, same great spicy notes

Sweet - is this the same beer in the bottle? Spicy, citrus, fruity, delicious. Crisp finish. Great

Medium body, well carbonated, a brilliant feel.

Easy drinking, sweet, but not too sweet. Alcohol is hidden, I could stick this all day

Served in a St. Bernardus Trappist chalice. Took the bartender a bit of time to perfect and tame the pillowey head on this beautiful ale. Complexity at every turn, no one flavor stands out as the balance of fruit and spices in this tripel are masterful. Complexity actually increases even further as this beer warms toward optimal temperature. Had to drink this one to figure out where the name is derived...your date will be a "mad bitch" if you only buy her one of these delicious treats.

On tap at the Brick Store.

Pours a clear yellow with a soapy white head that hangs on for ages and leaves very good lacing.

The aroma is very light with lots of light fruit, apples and pears maybe, with some sweetish pale malts. Some lemons hang around the nose as well, though not too intrusive or tart.

The taste is a slight step up from the aroma as the sweetness kicks up a notch with light fruits still playing the major role but with some candi sugar thrown in for good measure. The citrus comes out a bit more than the aroma and balances the sweetness of the fruits and yeast very well.

The mouthfeel is very smooth and actually pretty sticky with the fruity and sugary sweetness on the palate.

This is a fantastic beer. It's been a while since I had one and I really forgot how good it is. one of the better tripels out there.

On-tap at the Brick Store in Atlanta.

Pours a perfectly clear yellow-golden color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of light fruits - bananas and pears - with hints of citrus rind and spices all backed by a solid malt backbone.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Malt flavors kick things off, followed by bananas and pears coated in Belgian candi sugar. Mild spices hit in the middle of the sip and carry through until the mildy sweet and dry ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with active carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. This drinks more like a 6% beer than a 10% one - I could definitely have a few of these.

Overall this is a trippel that's very well done. Definitely worth a shot.

Another unusual beer at the local Bavarian Lodge. As an example of a Tripel, this is outstanding, really one of the best I have had. Hazy pale orange in the glass with a thin dense head, the aroma oozes forth from the snifter with all sorts of interesting ester-y, phenolic components. The smell can entertain for hours. Densely flavoured on the palate, apricots prominent, a taste profile that runs from sweet initially to a lingering slightly bitter finish. Very concentrated. A yardstick against which to measure others.

Enjoyed on-tap at Brick Store Pub:

The beer appeared slightly hazy golden color with a very light, but thick white head. There was a nice thin layer of the head throughout the entire drink.

The aroma was good, typical Belgian...sweet with some fruit. Not exceptional, but spot on for the style.

The taste on the other hand was very good. The first thing that I noticed was that it had a kick after every drink. I guess it might have been the alcohol kind of burning as it went down, but it kept me interested.

The beer had good carbonation to it and it was very easy to drink, although with the high ABV I would not drink too many at one time. Definitely a beer to drink slowly and enjoy. Very tasty and I hope to try again.

On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Pours a very hazy golden, virtually opaque, but without lots of yeasties floating around. Smells of tangy Belgian yeast with pronounced aromas of bananas, clove, and spice. The taste is wonderful. Flavors of apricot, candi sugar, clove, black pepper, juniper come together seamlessly. There is a nice finish of spice and bright, slightly spicy hops on the finish. The mouthfeel is long and attenuated. Very little sweetness on the finish. Absolutely delicious on-tap and one of the better tripels out there.
