Picked up at Nikki's Liquors in June
Poured in to a tulip
A: This beer pours a ruddy light chocolate brown, bit of a purplish look to it. A two finger of khaki colored head sits on top. Head recedes to a film that retains throughout. Minor wispy lacing is left on the glass.
S: Nose is tart apples, cherries, vanilla, some cocoa, oak and some sort of candied sugaring/caramel notes.
T: Taste starts with sour tart cherries and cranberry at the forefront. Middle has some cocoa, oaked flavoring, with a touch of vanilla. The finish is soured apple, and hints of pear that linger and really come through in the after taste. There is a bit of a warming as an after thought from the alcohol.
M: Medium body, high carbonation - quite visible at first pour, crisp body at first with a creamy, somewhat sticky finish.
D: Goes down easily, nice kick, not too filling, the ABV should drop the drinkability .. however, it is a phenomenal drink to sit with, sip and enjoy.

Leather brown with garnet highlights + a fast-fading ribbon of off-white froth; wine, wet wood, red currants, winter spice on the nose; walnuts, ginger cake, red plum, waxy leather, a whack of tannins, red wine vinegar, and a pepper finish; dry, warming, lt-med.
4 4.5 4.5 4 4.75
Gives off balsamic aromas but more so wine and wood individually.
Similarly the taste ranges from sharp, fruity acid to deep dark candy sugar - there are sips that are bracingly tart + sips that aren’t sour at all.
It all has a library mustiness on the end - that’s 12 years of age, no doubt.
Dunno if to call this a bruin or BDSA but it’s shifty + mature + lovely.
A pleasure.
