Served through a roomtempered bottle into a snifter.

A: At first a lush and thick head, white in colour, witch soon resides into small islands of foam and lacing on the glass.
The colour is golden and very hazy. Quite bubbly.

S: Lots of fruit out of this one! Apricot, peach and raisins at first. Then also the belgian yeast with it´s estery character. Some almost liqourice sweetness with a hint of sour in the back.

T: Oh my! This is really nice! Fruits! Peach, raisins and lime. And then sweetness with a touch of liqourice. At the and there´s some spicy hop bitterness.

M: Quite smooth and thick. Medium bodied. The carbonation is not apparent. A bit dry to the finish.

O: Really great beer! This is absolutely smashing and super drinkable. A must have!

A- Pours a hazy tangerine color with a large, chunky, ghost white head.

S- Tangerine, light citrus fruit, orange juice, indistinct sweetness.

T- Light tangerine/apricot up front that is overcome by a wave of hops that subsides into a light bitterness on the tongue.

M- Medium bodied with ample carbonation.

D- Decently drinkable beer. Somewhere in between a session beer and a sipper for me ... don't necessarily know what occasion i'd recommend it for.

A: cloudy in the bottle, with a nice slug of dark sediment in the bottom... no freshness date... cloudy in the (balloon) glass, light yellowish amber.... huge, off-white, spongy foam stand sporting a variety of bubble sizes.... minimal lace

S: scent of over-attenuation via cultures?.... apple, pear, white grape.... mild-peppery, yeasty spice... hint of acidic bacteria slop.... dandelion or other weed-like flower (is this the hop aroma?).... neutral and mellow alcohol... finding out this beer is dry-hopped, hop aroma, if present, was about nil, perhaps suggesting this was indeed an older bottle

T: oh yeah, this was mishandled or something... the flavor is off, but not bad... has an overtone of funkiness a la kombucha.... overall, the main flavors are solidly fruity - nectary pink grapefruit and subtle lemon tart.... vague background of grassy grain kernels, biscuit... the funkiness does eventually seem to fade into the background, leaving a bright, complex fruitiness and a touch of lightly-toasted grain

M: with the lasting foam, there's a gentle frothy wash up front with a light tingle mid-palate.... a lovely initial impression of soft roundness, washed away dry by the delicate scrubbing and alcohol.... overall, superbly light, mellow and easy

O: this was by no means a bottle in tip-top shape, but it's a credit to De Dolle that this beer still turned out to be tasty, refreshing, and enjoyable

Before my trip to Belgium this time I checked to see which fairly common beers I had not rated or reviewed. This is why I went into Cambrinus (Brugge) and ordered this, a Satan Red, a St Feuillien Triple and a Hercule Stout before anything else. Needless to say four different styles and types of beer: what fun drinking in Belgium can be.

Anyway this was first: golden pour with a huge white head to wade through.

The nose and taste are like a mixed fruit bowl that has been plunged into a bath of yeast, then had pepper dusted onto it before someone squirts lemon juice all over it. Now boil it and take out the lumpy bits, add some hops re-boil, allow it to settle in a bottle for a while and then it's ready to drink.

330ml bottle, 2013 vintage

Served in beautiful Oerbier stemware - bright golden-straw body, thick endless white foam which enhances the beautiful appearance and feel of this beer. Nice notes of citrus, peppercorn, champagne, spice, clove and yeast. Sparkling carbonation - really nice stuff

Golden color with apparent carbonation and an incredible thick head with great retention and lots of strong laces.
Nice bold aroma of pineapples, banana, Belgian funky yeast, pine and white wine.
Very pleasant flavor of herbal and citrus hops with notes of banana, spices, overripe pineapples, Cointreau liquor, pear, apples, champagne, flowers, bubblegum, earth and a bit of lactic acid. Dry aftertaste with a long herbal bitterness and slightly tart.
Medium body with perfect carbonation, a bit effervescent. Alcohol of 8.0% abv is almost inexistent.
Superb beer, a Belgian Strong Pale Ale that is hard to beat. Hoppy as a Belgian IPA and amazingly fruity. Complex and still very easy to drink. Dangerous beer.

This was a bit of a gusher. It was very heady and took multiple times to pour it. The head has a slightly soapy taste. The beer is fairly bitter which is uncommon for this style. Very sappy, resins tasting. There is a fruit under taste, slight carbonation while I drink, but that could be from the 10 minutes it took to pour. Overall, not too bad of a beer.
