look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Presentation: 33 cl / 11.6 oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Big-time rocky head with a floating plateau that does not waver. Mildly hazed beige yellow hue with a few furious tiny bubbles racing to the top.

Smell: Lemony, granny smith apples, faint medicinal phenols and a spicy sweet mix of malt, alcohol and hops in the aroma.

Taste: “Flash in the pan” tartness as the moderate body sets in. So smooth and crisp with a lined yeasty bite. Short musty buttery middle. Fruity with lemon and tart apple tones. Husky grain and medicinal phenols mix things up. Alcohol wants to come out but it hides until the warmth hits when the brew is nearly finished. Spicy hop and alcohol twist lay down with a kiss of honey like maltiness. Yeast adds another layer of chalkiness towards the end as the brew dries.

Notes: Oh baby, this is a nice one. One to have on occasion to bring the whole beer thing into perspective. Meaning that even pale brew can be this complex and flavourful yet drinkable at the same time.

look: 5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 5

Presentation: 33cl brown Euro-style bottle. A parrot holding a glass of beer adorns to label.

Appearance: Cloudy, tarnished gold. The head on this damn beer is like a meringue! It floats, and jiggles!

Smell: Very aromatic, on the sweet side with hits of raw honey, citric gummy candy and herbal tea aromas. Breathing through the nose and mouth will pick up pleasant apple aromas.

Taste: First taste is creamy and smooth, on the palate this is light bodied but with definite mouthfeel. Then follows a bold amount of raw sugar flavours, and some fruitiness that can be likened to plum ... and allows carries some plum tartness into a spicy yeast and hop combination. Right behind follows a magnificent blend of toasted and caramel malt flavours, with a touch of butter. Finishes tea-like (herbal), then dry with yeast notes.

Notes: Hot damn! This about as unique as it gets fellow advocates. Todd bought this at the 't Brugs Beertje in Brugs for 140 BF. Buy it and savour it friends.

Shared at a tasting with friends.

Poured a very pretty gold with mild haze adorned with a large white head that lasted quite a while. A fairly complex nose. Honeycrisp apples, bartlett pears, touch of riesling, clove, white pepper, and apricots. Maybe some golden raisins too. There's a lot going on here. Bit of earthiness (not like the lambic kind though), it's tough to explain that one. Maybe from the hop variety they use. But the beer is superbly smooth and drinkable. Quite a fantastic beer.

330ml Bottle received in trade with rejtable - thanks!

Appearance - Gold colour with a massive size fizzy/frothy white head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for 10+ minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Cloves, lemons, breads/grains

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste breads/grains, cloves and lemon juice/zest. There is also some banana, a honey sweetness and a lot of floral/peppery notes.

Overall - My third variety of beer from this brewer, and they have all been amazing. Another world class beer from one of my favourite belgian brewers. Great mix of flavours and a textbook example of the style.

A- Pours a hazy tangerine color with a large, chunky, ghost white head.

S- Tangerine, light citrus fruit, orange juice, indistinct sweetness.

T- Light tangerine/apricot up front that is overcome by a wave of hops that subsides into a light bitterness on the tongue.

M- Medium bodied with ample carbonation.

D- Decently drinkable beer. Somewhere in between a session beer and a sipper for me ... don't necessarily know what occasion i'd recommend it for.

A: cloudy in the bottle, with a nice slug of dark sediment in the bottom... no freshness date... cloudy in the (balloon) glass, light yellowish amber.... huge, off-white, spongy foam stand sporting a variety of bubble sizes.... minimal lace

S: scent of over-attenuation via cultures?.... apple, pear, white grape.... mild-peppery, yeasty spice... hint of acidic bacteria slop.... dandelion or other weed-like flower (is this the hop aroma?).... neutral and mellow alcohol... finding out this beer is dry-hopped, hop aroma, if present, was about nil, perhaps suggesting this was indeed an older bottle

T: oh yeah, this was mishandled or something... the flavor is off, but not bad... has an overtone of funkiness a la kombucha.... overall, the main flavors are solidly fruity - nectary pink grapefruit and subtle lemon tart.... vague background of grassy grain kernels, biscuit... the funkiness does eventually seem to fade into the background, leaving a bright, complex fruitiness and a touch of lightly-toasted grain

M: with the lasting foam, there's a gentle frothy wash up front with a light tingle mid-palate.... a lovely initial impression of soft roundness, washed away dry by the delicate scrubbing and alcohol.... overall, superbly light, mellow and easy

O: this was by no means a bottle in tip-top shape, but it's a credit to De Dolle that this beer still turned out to be tasty, refreshing, and enjoyable
