The smell and flavour of this brew do it for me, big fruity esters with a sweet pale malt base. Has hints of almonds and mango with a warming alcohol. I know it is their spring beer but this is one that could be aged a year or perhaps more and still gain in complexity.

Presentation: 33cl brown Euro-style brown bottle. A freaky ass psycho Easter bunny sits up against a tree, eyeing up a glass of Bos Keun. Obviously Mr. Easter Bunny has his priorities straight ... screw the hopping and Easter candy! He's got beer!

Appearance: Cloudy (from the yeast) orange straw. The head is pretty healthy and settles to a creamy white lace that sticks heavily along the sides of the glass.

Smell: You can get high off of this smell. Earthy, yeasty and sugary sweetness that is nearly cloaked by a medicinal aroma. Estery too with really ripe pineapple aromas.

Taste: First sip releases a lot of foam activity, creating a creamy texture on the palate. Medium bodied. Then comes some lime rind, quick sharpness then a tea-like citrus hop flavour. There's a unique musty quality to this brew with is a bit powdery and adds to the incredible complexity of this beer. All of this is then overtaken by a sugar sweetness and faint background tartness. Finishes a tad dry with some residual sweetness.

Notes: Purchased at 't Brugs Beertje in Brugs for 140 BF, by Todd. 7% abv, and very drinkable. This beer is huge in character and complexity. Can't really say to much more about it as we are in awe of this beer.

33cl brown bottle purchased from Platinum Liquor in Bellevue Hill.

Pours a slightly hazed but still bright pale golden colour, with a frothy carbonated head of white. Lace forms in suds as the head collapses, leaving a foam across the top of the glass. Body is fluid, but with a hint of weight behind it and a mess of large-bubbled carbonation when swirled. Looks good.

Nose is excellent. Big champagne-dry yeast characters, restrained sharp fruity esters, herbal crushed greenery. All held together with a bright but coherent sweetness. It's extremely refined and sophisticated. Excellent stuff.

Taste is also very good. Very clean entry with a hint of sugary sweetness that is then tempered by more of those dry yeasty characters—these allow the beer to glide to a clean and pleasingly light finish. Minimal estery characters, although there's a slight peppery punctuation that comes in on the mid-to-back, but not more than this: it remains really very smooth and approachable throughout. Alcohol character in particular is well-hidden.

Feel is smooth and light, but with a frothiness from the carbonation and the body which is lighter than expected.

Extremely drinkable for its weight, this is a very well-crafted beer. Although I know a session of these would be a foolish thing to do, the characters of the beer almost make me want to attempt it. Very nice stuff indeed.

Pours a murky light brown with a foamy tan head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Small swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt and lots of various fruity aromas. Taste is much the same with malt, grain, and fruity flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a very nice fruity presence that makes this one quite easy to drink.

Bottled Feb 2010

Beer is amber in colour with a large beige head. Terrific retention.

Nose strongly contains apple, as well as other sweet fruit scents, like pear. Yeast and bread.

The flavour is really good. A nicely blended mix of apple, pear, yeast, bread and spices. Alcohol is noticeable but not overly strong, especially considering the ABV. Sweet, but there is a dryness as well to balance things out. A very slight tartness. The finish is dry.

Full bodied, strongly carbonated. A bit of heat, quite chewy.

Overall, excellent. A really good (and distinctive) beer from a really good brewery.
