Murky amber orange with very little head, retention, or lacing. Taste is diverse with notes of caramel, bran muffin, stone fruit, mild citrus. Medium body, light carbonation.

A 750ml corked and capped bottle, produced in 2010, poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.

Appearance: A very nice clear orange copper colour with a one finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly to a ring around the glass while leaving some lacing.

Aroma: Fruit cake and blackcurrant oxidation, with sweet caramel, toasted oak, and candied citrus zest.

Taste: Sweet fruity, dried red berries, lightly red wine vinous, candi sugar, candied dried orange slices, honey, caramel, oak.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate to soft carbonation.

Overall: Despite the oxidation, this was an enjoyable sipper with nice balanced complexities within the flavour.

Poured at fridge temp, but I let it warm over at least an hour. Pours a transparent orange/red with almost no head. What did form disappeared quickly. The nose is insane. Big notes of brandy, oak, a wonderful earthy note, fresh strawberries, a bit of vanilla, slight smell of clove, and a hint of caramel.

The taste is crazy. Sour cherries, barnyard funk, leather, caramel, honey, apricots, brandy, oak, very slight citrus peel, and sweet candy. Holy shit this is intense. Almost no carbonation amplifies the flavors.

The mouthfeel is dry and medium bodied. A dry red wine on the aftertaste. This doesn't drink like 12% ABV, that's for sure. Super drinkable. Just a lovely experience.

This is a long time want, finally ticked. 2010 vintage.

This one pours a light and murky brown color, with a small head, and basically no lacing.

This smells like boozy apricot, caramel, simple syrup, oak, jammy fruit, oaky wine, and cherry.

There's so much going on here. This is a supremely unique beer- there's really nothing like it. The base beer- Stille Nacht- isn't really sour at all, but the 25 months in wine barrels picked up a little sourness here. There's tons of cherry, mostly cherry skin and some light sweetness, with jammy wine type flavors, some grapes, and a bit of oak. Given that this was eight years old, there was a surprisingly zero amount of oxidation here.

This is medium bodied, creamy and soft, with a lower level of carbonation. I expected no carbonation at this age, so any carbonation was pleasant, honestly.

This is as unique of a beer as it gets, honestly. This is really quite wonderful.

Dark fruits, figs, boozy raisins, and a honey marmalade finish. Sweet and sticky but not cloyingly so.

Thanks to Steve for this. The woody/dark fruit flavours are excellent. A seriously complex beer.

A truly special beer. Shared last night with Brian.

A light ruby red with a small head with decent retention, this beer looks great. The nose is just exceptionally layered and structured. There's dark fruit by way of cherries, a little bit of date, a wonderful red wine character, fruity, mildly earthy, soft and full, a brilliant funk, an earthy and mildly spicy note and finally, a wonderful malt complexity with layers of chocolate, dark caramel and buckwheat honey. The oak and the wine are seamlessly integrated here. The palate opens bright and fruity, vinous and earthy, rich and complex. Flavors of cherry cordial, chocolate, buckwheat honey, a light mushroom funk, earth, and a brilliantly integrated red wine character are present. The Bordeaux character is singular, reminding me of the Bush des Nuits in it's complexity and structure. The funk is mild and mellow. With s long, soft finish with lingering chocolate, cherry and red wine, this beer is exceptional.

Bottle: Poured a reddish color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with great retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of vinous notes with some malt notes also discernable. Taste is an incredibly well balance mix of flavours including some vinous notes with some oak, tart, malt with some residual candi sugar notes and some dark fruits notes. Body is full with excellent carbonation. I had concerned the bottle might have been a bit too old but I should not have worried.

750ml bottle thanks to Toby. Murky brown pour, initial beige head fades. Immediate fruity nose, plums, prunes, raisins, yeasty, wooden notes. Taste is more of the same, some quad, some dubbel, with more of the wine and barrel notes in evidence. nice lingering flavor and gentle warmth.

Poured at 55 degrees into some over-sized crystal stemware
bordeaux barrels x25 months...then 5 or 6 years in a cellar
Opened the cap and found some juicy funk between the cap & cork. Cork was a moderately difficult to extract. Once the cork was removed, carbonation crept towards the top, but there was no gush. The beer poured a clear, light amber with a good amount of fluffy off-white head that laces and stays a thin blanketing throughout drinking. The nose is alcohol & acetone, wine barrel, bread, caramel, and pennies (which disappeared quickly). The taste was yeasty and sweet and a hint of apples. However, the beer's rounded, yeasty, lactose-like sweetness quickly transitions into tannic bitterness and a puckering dryness. It's well carbonated, but still sits heavy on the palate - the beer tastes old, APPLE CIDER, don't know what else you want me to say. I'm pleased with how well the beer's held up, despite initial dissatisfaction. The beer's held onto its big, bready Belgian base and played nicely with the bordeaux oak and oxygen in the bottle.

A: cloudy orange copper, no head to speak of.
S: fermenting fruit and vinous. Loads of must and grape notes. Decent wood quality. Fruit notes are barrel forward not yeasty. Smells a bit hot.
T: similar to nose, quite musty Less barrel here. There is a grape sweetness in the middle and the same to the end coupled with some ethanol, but fairly well hidden on palate for 12%. Hints of sherry notes.
M: nice chewy body, though nearly flat.
O: though a fine beer, not worth the hype, though it could be flatter and altered with age.
