I went into Total wine not looking for beer, but found their beer isles in the back and was hooked.
The key to this store is the ability to buy beers by the single and mix and match your own six pack. In the mood for wheat, well you have a choice of 20 or more, same with ambers, stouts, laggers, IPAs, brown ale, etc. Imports are across the isle. Most domestic singles are about $2.50 (1.75-3.50) and imports a tad more. A six pack variety of Belgian Abby Ales cost me over $20, oooh but they were good! Now I know which ones to spend my money on for next time.
The store says that they have 500 beers, (I did not count) and more at their other store.
If I am going for something new...I will be back.

Ya know....for a franchise type place, I gotta admit this place is pretty good. In terms of a regular ole package store/wine shop, it by far has the best selection of singles in the area. The shelves are always stocked...they have a great selection of locals, and a pretty decent selection of imports. What I like about this place the most is the convenience. Easy to get to, and overall great selection....sign me up. I do most if not all of my weekly shopping here. Give this place a try if you have one in your area...for the convenience to selection ration...I don't think you will be disappointed.

Located near North Point Mall, Total Wine is easy to get to and has adequate parking, if not scads. Though their emphasis - as the name implies - is on wine, they have an impressive selection of beer. They have mainly single bottles so you can mix and match your own six pack. Nice if you want to try many different beers but don't want to get with a six-pack that you don't like! Beer is reasonably priced, not too spendy but not dirt-cheap - though a few bottles will set you back a bit. Their staff is alert, well-trained and helpful. If you live in Alpharetta or thereabouts, this is a very good place to pick up some fine craft brews and imports.

This is a great place to go if you are looking to sample individual bottles. Their selection of single 12 oz bottles is very good. Their bomber selection isn't that great, but they tend to rotate it out at least. When you consider the other package stores in the area, it's not bad. Though you do pay a premium on the price because of the type of store it is. This place will never compete with a Jax or a Greens, but it still is better than some of the other package stores in the alpharetta/roswell area.

The selection of wines is is the main draw here (after all it's what the store is named for) with 90% of the store dedicated to the drink I don't care about. The beer aisle is not horrible, but a good liquor store easily will net you a better haul. But if you are just looking to sample a bunch of different things, the single bottle collection is the reason to come here. Almost everything that is in six of four packs is available as single bottles. The selection is more import centric than craft, but there is a good variety of the mainstream craft beers around. Not everything from every brewery is available, but overall I can't complain. Better use of the space than the old ripoff CompUSA that used to be here.
