Amber gold, clear and a think lacing sits atop the pint.

Bready and a clean citrus bitter hop aroma.

Malt forward, but there's enough hopping to keep it interesting and crisp. It's not a good strong flavor and mouthfeel, a bit aqueous and lacking on the big flavors I expect from Oregon breweries. I appriciate it though for its subtle balance. Malts are clean and smooth, no roasting noticable. Clean caramel flavors mixed with the bittering hops.

THis one needs a name, don't ya think GVB? A boring name for a boring brew.

Good Beer. Many thanks to weefisheads for the oppportunity.
Pours a chill hazed golen amber with a very impressive white head that melts to a very thick lacing.
Aromas are lightly bready yeast and light, clean, citrus hops.
Flavors of sweet light amber malt balanced with light citrus hops.
Nothing out of balance...nothing fighting for the forefront...just totally balanced.
Very drinkable.

Lucent blood orange with much more orange than blood. The strong whiff of citrus and the appearance of the head lead me to think that American Pale will be on the generously hopped side. The toasted beige cap is as sticky and as creamy as an APA lid has a right to be. It's unfortunate that more lace isn't generated, but this is a fine looking version.

For some unfathomable reason, the citric bomb that I was expecting the nose to be hasn't detonated. Now that I'm focusing on it, it's way too tame. Cascade hops (I'm guessing) give off more white grapefruit notes than orange notes. A little more power would easily earn the higher score.

Like all Golden Valley beer, this one is flavor-deficient. It can't be the case that they've all been old (I wouldn't think), but without dates there's just no way to know for sure. Also, like most Golden Valley beer (with the exception of the subpar Dundee Porter) the flavor is decent.

There's an untoasted pale malt base that isn't anywhere near sturdy, but then it really doesn't need to be with a hop load this low. The beer tastes like sugar cookies topped with lemon-grapefruit frosting. It really isn't as sweet as that sounds since the bitterness of the fruit zest (er... hops) brings things into some degree of balance. Fresh and on-tap, this just might be killer beer.

The body is on the lighter side of medium for the style and the bubbles either need to be greater in number or more energetic. The combination enhances drinkability without doing a thing for pleasurability.

What an ingenious name: American Pale Ale the American Pale Ale. This really is a drinkable version as long as you don't think too long and hard about what could have been. Cranking the flavor knob up a few notches would result in a pretty damn good APA. As is, it's probably not worth your time given what else is available in the great Pacific Northwest.

I really enjoy the bittering properties of this beer – prominent, not dominant – and the more modest emphasis on aromatics keeps this from straying into IPA territory. (Pales that emulate IPAs are a recurrent grievance of mine.)

The nose presents a nice mix of malt and hops with no dayglow citrus or floral effects; the bitter and the sweet are both amply accounted for in a sensible, healthy balance. Casual acrobatic lace adorns a body of clear, rich golden with sustained carbonation.

This is an elegant beer with clean lines though an educated hunch tells me the bottled version is not likely to match the tap.

A rich white head appeared before my once I poured the beer into my trusty tasting pint. The head must have decided this wasn't the right place to hang out since it took off fairly quickly only to leave a thin little puddle in the center of the glass.

Appearence is a semi-cloudy copper brown.

Taste is very strong....probably more malty strong than a hoppy strong.

Aroma is difficult to decipher since I'm sort of on the ropes in battle with a cold. Probably would be the same reason why I couldn't give a great discription of the flavor either.

Well, I do remember the first time I had this it was very enjoyable, yet I waited until I was ill and on the second bottle to write this review. (not that the beer isn't enjoyable now.) I guess what I'm trying to say is that sick or not, this is a decent beer to drink down.

Medium gold color, medium head. A medium bodied pale ale. Light malts, slightly spicy. Nice balance. Good flavor. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice beer. Light and refreshing yet lots of flavor
