Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Chimay glass. 03/11/09.
Pours a cloudy orange-amber color with tons of visible little floaties. A thin half-finger of beige head quickly disappeared with no lacing, and almost no retention. Aroma is sweet and sugary with a hint of alcohol - not very complex.
Taste starts very sweet and malty with candied sugar. Caramel and toffee flavors are subtle. There is also a noticeable alcohol presence. Feel is medium-bodied with a low amount of carbonation for a Belgian beer. Slight warming from the alcohol. The finish is fairly dry and clean. Drinkability is decent, though it is a bit heavy. I split the bottle and I wouldn't want much more than the half I had.
Overall, a pretty average Belgian. Its taste is lacking in complexity.
