A: Golden colored when poured into snifter glass producing a three finger pillowy head that has excellent retention and leaves moderate lacing.
S: Citrus, banana, clove, sweet malt, bread, spices all contribute to the aroma parade.
T: Citrusy, malty sweetness, spicy and bready flavors combine in a wonderful combination. Slight boozy warming on back end.
M: Medium bodied with active carbonation.
O: Wonderfully well-balanced and delicious beer. I am so glad I found a four-pack and have another three to enjoy and savor. Highly recommend this beer.

12oz bottle poured into tulip:

A: pours a bright golden color, clear and clean - a lot like a pilsner - with a substantial pillow of head that lasts a while before settling.

S: I find this to be citrus-forward and not as heavy on banana as other tripels, which is a plus for me. There are also a lot of spicy/herbal notes that I catch on the tail end, but nothing stands out.

T: dry, herbal, refreshing. The banana and citrus are subdued, and clove comes a little more forward. Not a lot of alcohol burn in the taste, but it did make its way into my sinuses. (I know that's not exactly a "taste" issue, but...)

M: this is pretty active, heavily-conditioned stuff. The effervescence is nice, and the body is just right.

O: I like my tripels on the drier, spicier side, and this fits the bill. Very drinkable, too, much more so than most of this style and potency. This would make a great holiday dinner beer.

Somehow this made its way into a liquor store in downtown Vancouver, and the medieval label with Dutch script caught my eye.

Pours a slightly cloudy gold with tons of frothy white head. Head leaves little lacing but sticks around forever.

Has a very light smell; mostly of malted wheat and bananas.

Tastes very unique; there is a strong citrusy (grapefruit?) presence, almost like a mixture of oranges and lemons. The oats are rather noticeable and makes the beer's taste very different in a good way. Alcohol is noticeable but not overpowering. Cloves are present in the background.

Goes down crisp and clean, almost like a normal lager. Very easy drinking.

Had it from a growler and paired it with chicken, rice and squash. This is good. A good ballgame watching beer. As much as it pains me to say it, this is a better beer than La Fin du Monde. This is good stuff. This is what a triipel should be. Would certainly drink again.

Bought a 330 ML 11.2 FL OZ bottle of this from Hair of the Dog in St. Louis, MO for $7. Poured from the scroll looking labeled bottle w/ "3 grain beer, still brewed after a 17th century recipe from the old Carmelite monastery of Dendermonde on the front & tons of history on it into into a 12oz Tulip Glass. Has Best Before: D/CJ/CABD (?) on the back of the bottle. Whats it all mean Basil?

Aroma- Has a very sweet and nice malty aroma. A bit acidic and has some citrus/fruit hanging around. Not much spice or complexity like others but above average.

Appearance- Pours a 2 finger head that has great retention. Has a light orange colored body and good clarity. Leaves light sudsy lacing behind.

Flavor- Starts with a sweet and strong malty taste with a nice amount of spice and hop. Bitterness was light-medium on the scale and very different! An off centered brew, but well balanced nonetheless.

Mouthfeel- Light-Medium Bodied, High Carbonation, Effervescent but at the same time has the Smoothest and most enjoyable finish on a beer you can get!

Overall Impression- I am definitely going to be keeping my eyes opened for this one in stores! I was able to keep a good tab on most of the attributes but there can be MANY more with this one. If you get a chance go for it! This one is a flavorful Tripel and would suggest for anyone out there. Easy drinking too.

this beer pours a nice golden yellow with a fluffy white head. the smell is lightly spicey with hints of fruit and a nice bready maltiness to it. the flavor follows with the light fruitiness slightly beating out the light spiciness and malty backbone. this has a nice light mouthfeel with high carbonation. overall a great tripel.
