Pours into a transparent light gold color with a nice head. Smells like a Hoegaarden. Orange peel, coriander, some lemon, some vanilla. High carbonation, light body. It tastes like an improved version of Hoegaarden with a fancier flavor. As it gets warmer it tastes more like a hard liquor. Similar to the Kwak. Half way, at room temperature you forget you are drinking a beer and you wonder if you are having a peach liquor.

On tap

A - thick, cloudy, golden

S - malty, floral, fruity

T - malty, caramel, dried/candied fruit

M - thick, grainy, heavy on the palate

O - a very good tripel, easy to drink any time of the year. Definitely recommended and it's relatively easy to find.

Poured from a 330 ml bottle into a chalice with no yeast present. Stamped enjoy before 5-21-15 on the back.

A- pours a beautiful golden color, about an 8 on the SRM scale. Lots of white frothy head and a lot of carbonation from the bottle fermentation. Minimal head retention as well as minimal lacing present.

S- smells of wheat, sweet esters, barley, and a bit of grain. Some acetaldehyde present, but it pairs well with the esters.

T- tastes of banana, a hint of ripe green apples, and almost has a waxy flavor on the front end. Barley, wheat, and oats are present on the palate.

M- very prickly on the tongue from the high level of carbonation. Leaves a sweetness on the tongue after swallowing and settling in your stomach. Very gassy if you swish around in your mouth.

O- a solid representation of this particular style. While it isn't Trappist, it's definitely obvious that care was taken when creating this brew. I would recommend this for the beer novice who is trying different styles and is not familiar with Belgian beer, as this brew strongly represents the Abbey Tripel well, but without too much overwhelming flavor that it will turn a novice away.

Cheers!

I first tried this beer a few years ago, when I was still living in Holland at a Belgium beer cafe. I instantly fell in love with it.

Pour this carefully, because it has an enthousiatic way of foaming. When you pour it in correctly, you will get a nice fluffy layer of foam, which will stay on for a good amount of time. The color is a bit hazy, but still very bright yellow. There is a lot o yeast at the bottom,so if you don't want that, be carefull.

It smells like pineapple, pear, banana and apple. you get a good idea of the spices. a bit of bublegum also.

The taste is very fruity (pear, banana, pineapple), but at the same time very spicy, with peper on front. The carbonation level is just right and it creates a nice balance. The taste of alcohol is prominent, but I don't mind.

Although the taste is very distinct, it is still a complex beer with a different sensation with each gulp.

This is a great beer for the summer, but one you will love, or hate.

Overall a very nice tripel with a strong, almost tropical identity!
