Brown ale is characterized by a warm caramel chocolate flavour drived from the roasted malts used to make it. Brown Ales, also known as Dark Ales, were the most popular beer in the 19th century.

C'est What Spring fest of craft brewers. One of the better new ones. 26 IBU yet good flavour. Chocolate malt. Dark with white head and lacey.Above average carbonation, but mouthfeel not bad. Above the style for a brown. The first from this new enterprise, differentiating themselves from their owners, Trafalgar, through the recipe. However this was brewed at Trafalgar.
This review is the cask, had at the brewpub. This is closer to a mild, with some sourness. Light brown colour, virtually no head. No aroma to speak of, very easy drinking, light mouthfeel.

Debuted at the C'est What Spring Beer Fest, this is the first brewery from a new venture at the Black Creek Pioneer Village, which aims to produce beers in a style and setting of colonial Ontario.
Oaken body with a good off-white head that laced well and showed good retention. Full on fruity berry aroma pulls me in, and almost makes me think this is a fruit beer. Solid fruity flavour (again with the berries) complimented by a bit of light roast and milk chocolate. There's some nice stuff going on here, and I think this bodes well for the brewery's success. The carbonation is a touch too high, but overall the feel is pretty passable. This is a good first attempt - hopefully they build on this momentum!
