Porter's deep-mahogany colour comes from a darkly roasted malt. The flavour varies from slightly nutty with burnt grain hints to bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Originating as a distinct style in the 1700s, its name comes from the hardworking porters of London who enjoyed this inexpensive, fortifying drink.

Thanks to a non-BA buddy.
This was poured into a clear mug.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace, some messy lace.
The aroma played with some char, sweet dark fruits, coffee bean, earthiness, grassiness, molasses and a touch of biscuits.
The flavor was mildly sweet pulling in the dark fruits, molasses and biscuity malt over top of the earthiness and char. Mild aftertaste of char, dark fruits and biscuits.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt somewhat low but that didn't bother me. ABV felt on par. Mild finish of some dark fruits, molasses and coffee beans.
Overall, as an English porter I can see it and would be one that I could come back to.

A- This brew pours with a thick creamy head that is caramel in color, but it quickly dissipates into a patchwork of bubbles over top the liquid. The beer itself is semi transparent, rootbeer/cola in color and has reddish/brown hues when held up against the light. The lacing is not bad, as there are quite a few small swirls of foam clinging to the side of the glass and they don't really slide back or anything....carbonation is still too hard to tell what is going on.
S- Black malt char, a slightly smoked aroma, dark chocolate, however, it is a light scent....hints of black coffeebean oil, subtle Earthiness, blackstrap molasses sweetness, perhaps some fudge deepness right at the finish....nothing else much happening but it definitely smells like a porter!
T- Heavy toasted bread, heavy roasted nuts, dark chocolate, hints of natural vanilla, wood char...somewhat of roasted and freshly ground coffee bean.....well balanced between the robustness of the deep darkness and the blackened/roasted malt sweetness....delectable just like a beer version of a coffee crisp!
M/O- Medium bodied, and the carbonation is quite smooth. This is a well rounded porter and I think embodies the way this style has always meant to be brewed....maybe it is the techniques used to produce it, just as it was 150 plus years ago! I would be happy to have this again and wish it was readily available in my area!

Looks good. Thick tan foam and a dark opaque liquid. Nose is roasty, hints of cocoa, tobacco and dark fruit. A little bit acidic. Nice toasted graininess and a little bit of sweetness. Fairly clean, with a decent hop bite. Moderate, slick body without too much fizz. Not a bad porter overall. Easy drinking.

500 mL bottle poured into a pint glass.
1 finger head that settled in a minute or two. Near solid brown-black body.
Nice semi-sweet cocoa aroma over the head.
Rich, coffee-chocolate taste with significant carbonation bite. Only moderate bitterness.
Overall, very nice. My kind of beer. I would, however, ask for a London Porter instead, given the choice, but this is a fine secondary alternative.

A - Dark but not jet black in colour, kind of reminds me of a flat coke. Very little head with a few bubbles percolating on the sides.
S - Nice roasted smell with strong hints of coffee beans, chocolate and caramel.
T - Hints of bitter chocolate, toffee, and smoked malts. Very carbonated and watery with a touch of bitter lingering towards the end.
M - Medium-to-light bodied for a Porter. In some ways, this brew reminds me more of a Barley Wine.
O - Nice aroma but doesn't follow through with depth of flavor and body. Drinkable, but not high up on my list of Porters.
