Visited in late June. Definately passes as a quality beer store. The selection ranged from SA, SN, NB, to Stone, Rogue, Grand Teton. Plenty of Belgians and Germans in the mix. Prices for beer seemed within normal range. They also has a sizeable liquor selection, along with a wine section and a walk-in humador. I got several Grand Teton items since I can't get them back in Iowa. I bought one smoke, then at home found the same brand, larger size, different flavor for much cheaper. Come visit for the beer and liquor, careful about stogey prices.

Stopped in after reading reviews on Beeradvocate and found a great store! Nice selection or craft beers stacked all over and a cold walk in cooler with more six packs and singles.
The guys working were very helpful once they found out my interests. Advised on a single to stay away from and then pulled a bottle of Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout out of the cooler for me to go along with a couple six packs of craft Porters.
If you're in the Black Hills area check out Smith's in Rapid City. Great store with helpful staff.

Great selection of beer, especially smaller releases that you wouldn't necessarily expect to find. They get basically everything that is possibly distributed to the area. There is a large array of 6packs as well as a sizable shelf of bombers and singles.
Everyone that works there is super helpful and willing to go out of there way for you. They really know their stuff when it comes to great beers. They also have a great selection of wines and liquor.
They are the best craft beer store in South Dakota, so don't miss out if traveling through the Black Hills area.

Stopped here on my way to my brother's lakeside wedding, because BeerAdvocate told me it would be a good place to buy beer for the weekend.
I don't know how to judge against the general run of other beer stores in Rapid City. It seemed like a good solid store for anywhere, and it was a treat for me because I got to get some small local breweries that I will never find anywhere else.
It's one of those small beer shops where beer is just stacked everywhere, which is always neat.
The guy running the place knows his stuff and was very friendly and helpful.

It is by far the best craft beer selection in town that I have found. When you go make sure you check out the walk in part of the cooler for more of the single bottle selection it took me a minute to find. The staff was knowledgeable about the beers they had and was able to special order me a bottle of wine that my wife was looking for..
The thing i liked the most was that I did not feel like I was in a big box liquor store. The shelves are nice wood not preformed metal that screamed wallmart. The staff actually acted like they cared about what they were doing. In fact the guy that helped me was a geek himself and turned me on to a bottle of Mikkeller beer geek breakfast which I would of never guessed i would of found it in sodak.

I am so glad to find a place like this in Rapid City. Our distribution out here is horrible (trust me, I am responsible for buying beer for one of the best restaurants in the city).
They had nearly everything that is available out here and had plenty of it. Rather than focusing on the Coors line that most of this area does they had as many good beers as we can get featured. Crow Peak (our only local craft brew) was prominently featured as was Odell, Schell's, New Belgium and more. (Like I mentioned, our pickings are slim out here).
The guys there were more than willing to talk beer with me and pointed me in the direction of their small walk-in cooler where I could find everything from Chimay to Big Sky.
I will be sure to check out other stores in this area but will gladly use Smith's for my general beer needs!
