This place just opened about 3 weeks ago on Main St., down by the Police station. Their happy hour on Tuesday night was pretty decent, I think drafts were $3, $4 for apps, $5 martinis.
There are 6 taps here, and Nick the owner seems to be entirely on board with the craft beer scene. The only macro on was Miller Highlife, and that was being switched out for PBR. Also on tap was Dogfish Head 60, Sam Summer, Allagash White, Brooklyn Lager. I like that with only 6 tap handles, Nick managed to fill it with craft selections of popular styles. At 3 weeks in however the pressure to switch to BMC is being felt. Bottle wise there was some Smutty IPA and summer and maybe 8-9 other selections of craft, and of course Bud. The food was real delicious as well, their pulled pork sliders and roasted red pepper hummus at 4 dollars a pop could not be topped.
The atmosphere is not one I would call beer centric. It is very uber lounge like, low lighting, blue lights, and the bar itself is recessed down with plastic rocks in it. I hear sometimes they fill it with water and add goldfish. Cute. They were also playing Gia on their flat screens, I haven't seen that movie in yeaaaars.
Good luck to Nick and his great crew of workers. i would really love to see another bar make it in Middletown that steers towards craft beer instead of easy selling BMC.
