2016 version. Poured black with a quarter inch beige head that left no lacing. Smells of chocolate, roasted coffee, malts and just a hint of whiskey. Tastes of dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, licorice and a hint of whiskey. Medium bodied, creamy mouth feel, lightly carbonated and finishes slightly bitter.

2015 batch.
The beer comes in a black color.
The aroma offers sweet cocoa candy, lots of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Hints of dense dark chocolate and some umami.
The beer follows with an underlying earthy bitterness, covered with huge bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, espresso with some caramel sweetness and licorice and some bitterness to finish off the brew.
A really well done robust imperial stout that drinks quite well for its ~8%.

was expecting great things before i tried this and was a little let down.strong coffee taste which pretty much obliterated any of the whiskey barrel flavour.a solid stout but i would say good not great.

This is undoubtably one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. Tonight I popped the cork on my 2013 and it's a complete drain pour, I couldn't even get through a 10 oz pour. The taste and smell are both that of cork an vinegar. Horrible and disappointing. One positive is that this helps solidify that everything (even beer) that's comes out of NE trumps that of NY.

tried both 2013 & 2014 side by side. 2013 heavier, creamier, more pronounced coffee & chocolate notes. 2014 more carbonated and "newer" tasting. Boozier
